In truly surprising news, Paul Simon was arrested after a domestic dispute with wife Edie Brickell at their home in New Canaan, Conn., over the weekend.
Police were called to the residence at approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday. They were both charged with disorderly conduct; other details remain scarce.
Simon and Brickell are slated to appear in Norwalk Superior Court Monday.
Law enforcement officials will hold a press conference to discuss the case.
Brickell, 48, famously fronted Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians in the ’90s and sang the hit song “What I Am.” She now performs with Steve Martin.
Undeniably one of the greatest living singer-songwriters in American history, the 72-year-old Simon has been a musical institution for over half a century.
Simon and Brickell have been married since 1992 and have three kids; he’s been married twice before, once famously to Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher.
