Rapper and reality star Raymond “Benzino” Scott has spoken out for the first time since a shooting that took place his own mother’s funeral over the weekend

And Benzino, who was allegedly shot by his nephew, wants to make it clear that his mother’s good name should not be sullied by this event.

“My mother was good, my mother wasn’t about this,” a teary-eyed Benzino told Boston’s FOX 25 yesterday.

Pictured above with Thi Thi in the hospital, Benzino explained that he actually didn’t plan on attending the mass at St. Peter’s Church in Plymouth because he wanted to mourn in private.

He was on his way to pick up his Love and Hip Hop co-star, Stevie J, when he accidentally passed his mother’s procession on its way to the church.

“Once I started getting to the beginning of the procession gun shots boom, boom, boom,” Benzino says of the incident. “I took a deep breath just to see if it was in my chest, but it wasn’t. I didn’t feel no pain so I maneuvered the car jumped out the car and I’m running down the middle of the street to all the other cars in the procession throwing my hands up like I need help.”

A relative stopped, picked Benzino up and took him to the police station. From there, he was transported to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

As for nephew Gai Scott, who is facing charges of assault with attempt to murder and being held without bail?

“Blood doesn’t mean it’s love,” Benzino says.
