It looks as though the Iron Man franchise may be coming to an end.

Fans may need to savor every second until Iron Man 3 hits heaters May 3, because after that date, it’s looking like there will be no more IM films to look forward to.

Gwyneth Paltrow recently stated in an interview, “I don’t think there’s going to be [an Iron Man 4]. I think we’re done with Iron Man.”

 

Both Paltrow’s and Robert Downey, Jr.’s contracts are up, with Downey, Jr. only obligated to appear in Avengers 2.

Downey, Jr. has also stated that he is contemplating retirement from the role, hoping to move on to more intellectual independent films.

So what will happen to the flagship Marvel franchise? Kevin Feige has previously considered taking a James Bond approach to Iron Man, and recasting the role as need.
