Rihanna is donating $1.75 million to a Barbados hospital in memory of her dear Gran Gran Dolly, a.k.a. her late grandmother Clara “Dolly” Braithwaite.

The 24-year-old broke the news of her beloved grandma’s death back in June via Twitter: “Goodbye #grangranDOLLY get your beauty rest until I see you.”

The singer visited the hospital Saturday with her mother Monica Fenty and Dolly’s husband Lionel alongside her to formally present the generous gift.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown will be renamed the Clara Braithwaite Centre for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine. Not a bad legacy.

Rihanna’s donation has paid for vital pieces of equipment.

In a statement to E! News, she said, “This was my way of giving back to Barbados, in a form of philanthropy, by assisting the QEH in its continued modernization program.”

“This was all done to save lives or at least extend them.”

Rihanna also honored Dolly in another way this summer. One of the many Rihanna tattoos was a giant Isis in her memory after Dolly lost her battle to cancer.
