There is no network and no show runner attached to the project, but Charlie Sheen really is coming back to television.

In a statement today, the actor confirmed plans for a sitcom based on the horrific movie Anger Management. It will be produced by Lionsgate, who says the series will focus on “a mild-mannered, non-confrontational man ordered to attend group anger management sessions led by a therapist who could probably use some anger management himself.”

Sounds like there will be room for one very lucky – or unlucky, depending on your perspective – lead co-star.

“I chose Anger Management because, while it might be a big stretch for me to play a guy with serious anger management issues, I think it is a great concept,” Sheen said. “It also provides me with real ownership in the series, a certain amount of creative control and the chance to be back in business with one of my favorite movie producers of all time, Joe Roth.”

Roth previously worked with the star on Major League and Young Guns.
