French President Nicolas Sarkozy and First Lady Carla Bruni are expecting their first child as a couple, according to European news reports. She's pregnant!
Although speculation that the model, singer and actress may be with child has been in the air for some time, Sarkozy's father ultimately spilled the beans.
"The two do not want to know the gender in advance, but I'm sure it will be a girl, as beautiful as Carla," said the President's father, Pal Sarkozy, to Bild.
The nation's first couple has yet to comment on the news, but during a television appearance Monday, Bruni was wearing concealing, loose-fitting clothing.
The host of the French TV program promised not to touch on Bruni's personal life but congratulated the Italian beauty, eliciting laughter from the mother-to-be.
Some speculate that Bruni may be carrying twins due to her growing midsection.
Sarkozy's office refused to comment, but Bruni's mother, Marisa Bruni Tedeschi, insinuated to the Italian La Stampa newspaper that the family may soon grow.
Bruni has one son, Aurélien Enthoven, from a prior relationship and Sarkozy has three sons from his previous marriage. Congratulations to the happy couple!
