They’ve gotten their share of flak, but the cast of Jersey Shore does not buy into criticism that their show is bad for the Garden State, or society in general.

Vinny Guadagnino says he is used to it, but it still bothers him.

“One time we were in a bar and a guy walked by and said, ‘You are everything that is wrong with this country today,'” he recalls. “I was taken aback. There’s the economy, poverty, equal rights – and Jersey Shore is the worst thing?”

Hard to argue with that, but the show has haters in high places.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has said the MTV show is bad for the state, but Vin says “I think the Jersey Shore is awesome. It’s fun, and it’s entertaining.”

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi insists they don’t just party all the time, either.

“I think no one knows how we really are. We have, like, different sides. Obviously you see us party, we do this, and we do that. But outside of the show, we’re very quiet.”

So quiet, she goes to frickin’ book stores!

“I’ll go to frickin’ Barnes & Nobles, get a coffee and just sit down and read,” Snooki says. “No one would ever think that. We have different sides to us.”

Fans might also be surprised that Snooki no longer wants to date a “juicehead.” Rather, the orange-hued reality star says, “I think I want to move forward. I want to move Brooklyn and find a business Italian guy to take care of me.”

See, and you thought they’d never grow up.
