This keeps getting stranger by the day.

Jessica Simpson was seen having a sushi lunch at Katsuya with Tony Romo in L.A. on Friday after three weeks of not being photographed together and widespread reports that the football star and rumored singer had broken up.

On Monday, Jessica Simpson's rep denied that the pair had split, but her PR people then stayed silent all week regarding the couple's status.

Jessica Simpson Is 4 Years Sober

Pictures of Tony Romo partying in Chicago with a Jessica look-a-like named Lindsay certainly fueled speculation that he had moved on from Simpson.

Several sources close to the pair also said the breakup was over and done with, but here is Tony Romo, dining with Jessica Simpson in L.A. What gives?

Romo is likely in town for Ashlee Simpson's wedding to Pete Wentz, set for today at the Encino home of parents Tina and Joe Simpson.

According to a story we brought you yesterday, Joe Simpson called Tony Romo and asked him to come to show support for the family at the wedding.

It's an amazingly quick turn of events.

The Dallas Morning News reported Simpson and Romo were dunzo Thursday. A report in the Chicago Sun-Times said that Tony Romo had grown tired of Simpson's meddlesome pimp father, Joe Simpson, and all the drama associated with dating Jessica Simpson in general.

Looks like he caved! Will Jessica and Tony get back together? Were they ever apart? What's to come today when Pete and Ashlee wed? Stay tuned.

Jessica Simpson Quotes

They're just the cutest couple in the world. They are adorable. Anybody would wish to be them and you can only wish them well. Just being around them inspires love and everything I sing about.

Jessica Simpson [on her sister and Pete Wentz]

It’s fun to do a small film that might be released to DVD not because it’s a horrible film, but because it’s an independent film. For people to say Employee of the Month was a flop is ludicrous. We made the money back–that’s not a flop. For people to say The Dukes of Hazzard was a flop–it opened to $30 million! If these movies are flops, why would I still make them?
