Looks like Ellen Pompeo had a lot more to celebrate last weekend than her 38th birthday. The Grey’s Anatomy actress her fiance, music exec Chris Ivery, got married Friday at New York’s City Hall, reports the Boston Globe.
None other than New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg – a Boston-area native like both Ellen Pompeo and Chris Ivery – served as the couple’s witness.
Ellen Pompeo repeatedly said that she and Ivery wouldn’t opt for usual wedding hoopla, preferring a quiet, low-key affair. She made good on that promise.
A city clerk performed the brief ceremony with only Bloomberg and First Deputy Mayor Patti Harris accompanying Pompeo and Chris Ivery.Â

“They are over the moon,” Pompeo’s spokeswoman told the Boston Globe.
She and Chris Ivery were spotted at the New York Knicks game Sunday night at Madison Square Garden, sitting next to John Mayer and Minka Kelly.
Ellen Pompeo was back in Hollywood yesterday filming Grey’s Anatomy, which is expected to shut down production soon due to the writers’ strike.
