Might we soon need to Tac a new young power couple in Hollywood on to the board?

According to the latest issue of Us Weekly, Taylor Swift and Zac Efron (aka Tac, according to certain opening sentences) dined together at an Italian restaurant in Los Angeles.

Witnesses say the superstar singer and former High School Musical star "were deep in conversation and very giggly," even arriving together in the latter's Audi.

A source shoots down dating rumors between this pair, simply saying Taylor and Zac "were in L.A. doing press stuff together, and after they were done, they decided to grab dinner."

And, yes, it is true that they are starring in The Lorax together. But what fun is that? Two professionals exchanging career-oriented talk and mere friendly banter?

It's far more enjoyable to play this out in our minds and imagine Swift penning her next heartbreaking album about Efron, isn't it?

Zac Efron really is all grown up.

The former High School Musical actor will anchor his most mature movie to date in 2012, starring alongside Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaughey, John Cusack and others in The Paperboy, an upcoming drama based on a 1995 novel by Pete Dexter.

The film focuses on a Miami Times reporter who comes back to his Florida hometown to investigate a case involving a death row inmate. It's not the only film to star Efron in the new year, either.

So the Los Angeles premiere of the romantic comedy was an especially hot ticket last night, in more ways than one.

Two of the studliest actors in the film, Ashton Kutcher and Zac Efron, are featured below in the latest edition of a THG Fashion Face-Off. Both wore a similar colored suit for the occasion, but only one can be chosen as the winner. Vote now. (Editor's note: We apologize, Zac. In this upcoming drama, the former High School Musical star takes on the role of a Marine who travels to North Carolina after serving multiple tours in Iraq because he believes a woman there (played by Taylor Schilling) was responsible for his well-being overseas.

On the same day that this formerly impregnated celebrity turns 21, Zac Efron also celebrates a birthday: the young stud is now 24. He's eagerly awaiting your best wishes.

Efron has enjoyed a quiet, drama-free 2011. He split with Vanessa Hudgens near the end of last year, and gossip site have linked him with both Teresa Palmer and some other dude over the last few months. But that's been about it for Zac.

He'll next be seen in December's New Year's Eve.

Other stars celebrating birthdays today include: Freida Pinto (27), Ne-Yo (28), Jean-Claude Van Damme (51) and Mike Ditka (72).

It may be boring for the online community to admit, but good looking people can hang out on the beach and just be friends.

Many are having a hard time believing this, following photos that leaked over the weekend of Ashley Tisdale and Zac Efron frolicking in Malibu together. While wearing bathing suits!

With chatter of an affair quickly heating up, and wanting to be fair to boyfriend Scott Speer, Ashley took to Twitter yesterday and wrote:

"Don't believe all pictures. People r gonna come up with stuff to say bc it sells! I had such a great birthday party with my friends, Family, and BOYFRIEND Scott. I will not let stupid rumors ruin all the fun we had! Xoxo"

Zanessa may be broken up, but this former couple still has a lot in common. Most recent case in point:

Just a couple weeks after Vanessa Hudgens got a new neck tattoo, Zac Efron has been photographed with some new ink of his own. The following image is courtesy of the latest issue of NW, an Australian magazine.

If you can take your eyes away from Zac's ripping six pack for a moment, you'll see a pair of feathers across his inner bicep:

Unfortunately, Hudgens can relate to her ex in another way this week, too: a new round of topless pics of that actress have been leaked online. Yes, again.

A new report states that Vanessa Hudgens is getting close and cozy with Josh Hutcherson.

But that's nowhere near as scandalous as the claim made by The National Enquirer against Vanessa's ex: this tabloid quotes a source who says Zac Efron was holding hands with a male at an NBA All-Star Game party at The W Hotel on February 18.

"'I was shocked at how relaxed and open Zac was with this guy," says the anonymous witness. "He walked around talking to him, smiling and holding his hand right in front of everyone, including Vanessa. People were wondering if maybe it was a stunt to make Vanessa jealous. But, truthfully, Zac really seemed into the guy."

With no photos, no named onlookers and no reliable reputation for the Enquirer, we question the validity of this story. Then again, Efron is best known for starring in a musical...

While the status of Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens remains a question mark, this might clear things up a bit:

The actor reportedly acted VERY single in Hollywood last night.

A witness tells E! News that Efron got awfully cozy with Australian actress Teresa Palmer at Voyeur nightclub, arriving after midnight and sitting at a VIP table where they "drank, dirty danced and made out," the site confirms.

"They all took tequila shots together. He was grabbing her butt and doing very suggestive dancing," says an onlooker. "Then they made out a couple of times standing up where they were dancing. I was surprised they were doing that in front of everyone. It was like they didn't care.

"They were there for like an hour and left together."

Palmer stars in the upcoming I Am Number Four. She's been linked romantically to Topher Grace and Russell Brand.

No Strings Attached. It's not just a predictable Ashton Kutcher movie.

It's also the current status of Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, according to a friend of the couple, who says rumors of the pair's reconciliation are premature.

“They are just friends with benefits and while something more is certainly possible, they are taking things slow,” the insider told Hollywood Life. “It’s obvious they still have strong feelings for each other and are continuing to hook up.”

This source cited "career demands and distance" as the basis of the break-up in December between Zac and Vanessa, but concluded by offering up hope to fans everywhere:

"I’d be shocked if they don’t get back together someday.”
