Ryan Seacrest has been Swatted.

The American Idol host became the latest in a long, long line of celebrities to fall victim to this dangerous prank yesterday, as TMZ confirms a 911 call was made by someone alleging shots were fired inside Ryan's home.

The caller even referenced "mobster looking guys in suits with rifles" as the culprits, only for the police to show up and find no one on the scene.

Ironically, Seacrest has spent the morning talking to Russell Brand about his Swatting experience.

Along with that Brit, other famous names whose residences have been erroneously investigated in Diddy, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna and Selena Gomez.

Chris Brown visited On Air with Ryan Seacrest for the first time today, weighing in on a number of hot topics ... notably Rihanna, J. Lo and that valet dustup.

Though often criticized, the always-controversial 23-year-old sounded as sincere, genuine and thoughtful as we've ever heard him in this sit-down.

It looks like Julianne Hough will be remaining pure for at least the foreseeable future:

The former Dancing with the Stars professional/part-time actress/full-time hottie has split from her boyfriend of two years, Ryan Seacrest.

E! News, a rather reliable authority on all things related to the American Idol host, reported the break-up and cited a busy schedule for both stars as the basis for the relationship ending.

Seacrest and Hough will remain friends, the site says. While the latter will remain one of the most underrated beauties in all of Hollywood.

American Idol announced its Top 10 of Season 12 last night and, to no one's surprise, Charlie Askew was not among the group of finalists.

The contestant suffered through a mini meltdown on Wednesday night, struggling through a rendition of "Mama" and then confiding to Ryan Seacrest on stage that he's really an unhappy individual.

"I was impressed that he was courageous enough [to] talk about it," Seacrest told Access Hollywood yesterday. "But I could tell when he was singing and when he was standing there and the judges were talking to him... he was going through a tough time."

THIS... is your American Idol host for at least the next two years.

Fox has announced that Ryan Seacrest inked a new deal with the network yesterday and will remain at the helm of TV's highest-rated show through 2014.

“For the last 11 seasons, I’ve had the privilege to be a part of one of television’s most iconic shows,” Seacrest said in a statement. “It’s been a wild ride, and I’m excited for my journey with American Idol to continue. The legions of fans, amazingly talented contestants, judges, and producers, along with the hard working Idol crew, impress me every time we go on air and make hosting the show a dream job.”

Seacrest, easily the busiest man in show business, will also help cover the Summer Olympics on NBC in June.

Will Ryan Seacrest be taking over for Matt Lauer on The Today Show?

The American Idol host addressed that rumor this morning... to Matt Lauer on The Today Show.

After joking about taking both Lauer's job and that of weatherman Al Roker, Seacrest revealed that, yes, he has signed a new deal with NBC Universal. But Lauer can rest easy.

"The plan is for me to join the NBC family and continue to have a role at the E! network," Ryan said. "The first assignment will be to join the prime time team for the Olympics on NBC."

From there, who knows. But one thing is certain: this appearance by Seacrest will garner far less criticism for The Today Show than yesterday's ratings stunt of having Sarah Palin co-host.
