It doesn’t take much to make Paula Abdul cry.

Therefore, we can only imagine how the American Idol judge reacted upon breaking up with restaurateur J.T. Torregiani.

The pair parted ways approximately two months ago, but no one cared enough about either to report it at the time; Torregiani has moved out of the American Idol judge’s Los Angeles home.

“She’s doing fine,” a friend of Abdul’s told Us Weekly. “She has moved on with her life.”

Everyone’s favorite American Idol train wreck, Paula Abdul, turns 46 (!) today. Woo hoo! Many, many drinks will surely be consumed tonight!

As they should be. From the time she burst onto the scene in those Diet Coke ads and videos with MC Skat Kat to her recent sob-fests over David Archuleta, Paula has been a crazy, foxy celebrity news fixture. We’ll drink to that!

It was an emotional hour of American Idol last night.

Even before Brooke White broke down in tears following her elimination, Ryan Seacrest had come to the defense of Paula Abdul.

Responding to celebrity gossip sites that dared to claim Abdul was drunk during her Tuesday night blunder - when she critiqued a Jason Castro song that hadn’t been performed yet - Seacrest said:

“Last night the judges were thrown a curve ball on the air, which is just part of a live show… But it sparked a lot of gossip about Paula. And I read some of this online this morning and just for the record, the rumors — they’re not true. She’s part of our family and we love her.”

Abdul truly looked touched as the audience cheered, while both Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell gave her a kiss on the cheek.

This caused Ryan to joke: “I think Simon still wants to hook up with her.”

For once, Paula Abdul may wanna own up to being plastered during American Idol.

The only other excuse the kooky judge could give for critiquing a performance that had yet to take place last night - seriously, take a look at the video now - would be that she’s a moron.

According to celebrity gossip source TMZ, Abdul was served at least one martini during lunch yesterday, Granted, that was hours before the show aired, but Paula isn’t the heaviest woman on the planet. We doubt her tolerance is very high.

Did Paula Abdul give away the fact that American Idol is scripted with remarks about a Jason Castro performance that hadn’t taken place?

After the 17-year old sensation completed his rendition of John Lennon’s “Imagine,” Paula choked back the tears and said: “That was . . . one of the most moving performances I’ve ever heard. You’re destined for super stardom.”

Here’s the only shred of good news for the Patriots, following their stunning loss to the Giants in Super Bowl XLII last night: the team didn’t put on the worst performances of the evening.

The washed up singer lip synched her way through “Dance Like There No Tomorrow,” as fellow judge Randy Jackson blasted away on bass in the background.

Reportedly, the Abudl-inspired aspect of the recent 1980s resurgence is due to the fact that the American Idol judge is not content to simply release a song on Randy Jackson’s upcoming compilation.

Paula, who hasn’t released an album in over a ten years, has announced on her official website that she’s working on a new CD.

“New Paula Abdul album coming summer 2008,” the site promises. Are you looking forward to it?

TV Guide is reporting that FOX is talking to insane American Idol judge Paula Abdul about performing on the telecast. Who cares that she hasn’t released an album of new material since 1995’s Head Over Heels?

Move over, Tom Brady and Tony Romo. Paula Abdul may be the star of this year’s Super Bowl.

With Tom Petty set to bore us at halftime, and Jordin Sparks singing the national anthem, it’s unclear when Abdul would go on. But it’s evident just what she’d be doing during her time back in the spotlight:

The former Laker Girl is in rehearsals for a video duet with Randy Jackson, the first single from his upcoming Music Club Vol. 1 CD. Paula would use this choreography as a basis for any Super Bowl routine.

Do you wanna see the American Idol judge dancing and singing again? Or might this lead to a performance that trumps Britney Spears at the Video Music Awards for sheer ineptitude?

Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul are ready for another season of American Idol. They’re also prepared for another few months of trading verbal barbs.

Before mocking his fellow judge, however, Cowell first opened up to TV Guide about the crop of talent last season, saying it “just wasn’t good enough.”

It’s hard to argue with that assessment when the debut albums from finalists Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis fared so poorly.

Abdul even agreed with her supposed rival for a change, adding: “I don’t remember hardly anyone [from] last year.”

From there, though, Paula morphed back into her oddball self, describing the dynamic on the show, as, well, this:

“I’m the nurturing mom who breast-feeds these kids; Simon’s the disapproving dad. They come off the nipple and never say, ‘Thank you.’ They go, ‘Daddy, please pat me on the back.’”

But Cowell summed up his partner well - and got us excited for this season of American Idol - by simply saying:

“Paula’s possibly more out of touch than she’s ever been in her life.”
