And the fourth major artist releasing a new album this week has actually broken pre-sale records, despite having been utterly unheard of just a few months ago.

Indeed, with numerous singers and record labels hoping to take advantage of the holiday season, this is shaping up to be the most competition week in CD sales history.

Adam Lambert ("For Your Entertainment"), Rihanna ("Rated R"), Lady GaGa ("The Fame Monster") and Susan Boyle ("I Dreamed A Dream") will all compete for the top spot on the charts.

And we're not even counting Britney Spears, who is releasing a collection of her number-one hits (K-Fed is definitely not inclued on that list. Zing!).

Whose new album will you purchase first?

It takes a lot to upstage Lady Gaga live, which tells you a lot about the Adam Lambert AMA performance Sunday night. He actually relegated Lady G to #2 on the list of buzzed-about, flamboyant American Music Awards performances!

That's not to suggest Gaga didn't bring the crazy as always.

In a flesh-colored bodysuit wrapped with white piping, she performed a smashing (in more ways than one) medley of her hits "Bad Romance" and "Speechless."

After "Bad Romance,"she segued into "Speechless" by using her mic stand to bust open a glass box with a piano inside. Then she climbed inside and performed.

While breaking glass bottles, accompanied by violinists wearing gas masks in smoke-filled chambers beside her, natch. A far cry from that old school NYU video.

How would you assess Lady Gaga's AMA performance?

On Gossip Girl this week, Lady Gaga performed at NYU after helping Dan, Vanessa and Blair put together a uniquely bizarre Snow White/Gaga-themed musical.

A big reason Gossip Girl was able to score the pop star? Before she became Lady Gaga, Stefani Germanotta herself studied at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.

Footage has been unearthed of her performing at a talent show at the school back in 2005, and it definitely puts to rest any doubts about the singer's talent.

Okay, all the bizarre Lady Gaga pictures, rumors and costumes may boost her persona, but this girl is a heck of a musician beneath the bombastic facade.

Below, she performs two songs, "Captivated" and "Electric Kiss," providing her own piano accompaniment, and even drawing a comparison to ... Nora Jones.

Say what you will about her, Lady Gaga is an artiste.

She never does a half-ass job of anything. There are no mailed-in live performances, Gossip Girl guest performances, or even day-to-day public appearances.

Be it in the world of fashion, music or performing live, the rumored hermaphrodite gives 100 percent, 24/7/365. Case in point, her latest ensemble below.

Looking like an art exhibit and/or an arty exhibitionist, Lady Gaga recently performed at the 30th Anniversary Gala of L.A.'s Museum of Contemporary Art.

She's clearly doing her best impression of a piece of contemporary art, which you have to commend her for. Who would even think of or attempt this?

What do you think of Lady Gaga's latest fashion?

With all the twisted, weird and scandalous relationships that define Gossip Girl, who better than to perform live on the show than a rumored hermaphrodite?

The rising pop star sings, “Bad Romance,” at a private show arranged by Blair, who is trying to prove herself as a freshman at NYU, on Monday's new episode.

Hopefully, they get through the episode without a Lady Gaga nude scene, or her staging her own death on stage. Although it's Gossip Girl, you never know.

“My little sister is the hugest Gossip Girl fan ever,” said Lady Gaga, who wears a 30 foot-long dress for her concert. Naturally. Would you expect any less?

She says it's a "crazy performance art piece" in which she, via her song, serves as the narrator for what the characters are doing. Intrigued? Confused?

The Gossip Girl cast has offered only vague details about her appearance, but Lady Gaga herself recently teased her upcoming cameo on the show next Monday.

"First of all, my sister's a huge fan, and she's 17 years old. She was like 'Oh my God, you have to do it,'" she told MTV of her eason for appearing on the CW hit.

"And I'd seen it. It's a great show."

We doubt the cameo will feature Lady Gaga unmasked. Expect elaborate costumes - and not your standard run-of-the-mill musical guest star appearance.

"I hate most TV show performances, because they kind of come in out of nowhere," she said. "It has nothing to do with the story and nobody cares."

What does she have in mind instead?

Lady Gaga made sure her Gossip Girl appearance was unique.

Rather than showing up on the set for a day, doing her thing and going home, Gaga met with producers to ensure she could do a performance she loved.

"I was like, 'Look, the reason I want to do this is because I'm trying to say something that is not exactly mainstream. So, if I can say it on your show, that would be, like, a real coup d'état for me as a performance artist.'"

Wonder what that could mean ... that's she's a hermaphrodite?

Okay, that's not gonna happen. But what she the result is a "crazy performance art" piece in which "I am the narrator behind what's been going on with the Gossip Girl characters and make the song part of the moment."

Now that should be something. Give her credit for uniqueness.

As famous for her bombastic sense of style as for her hit pop songs, Lady Gaga rarely, if ever, makes an appearance without sunglasses, makeup, a hat or mask.

Being a rumored hermaphrodite may play some role in that.

But last night, fans finally got a glimpse of Lady Gaga's face au naturale - that is, sans sunglasses, elaborate masks, oversized hats and with no sign of makeup.

Well, a little makeup. For her. Relatively speaking, anyway.

Every day brings a new series of quotes you couldn't make up and/or outfits you would normally find in the tranny scarecrow chic aisle at Target.

Still, somehow it works, because it's her. Case in point ...

You have to hand it to South Park.

As one of our editors puts it, "as long as the world keeps doing stupid $h!t, they have unlimited material." Maybe so, but they never fail to deliver on said material.

Last week, Eric Cartman performed Lady Gaga's hit "Poker Face" and while far from sophisticated, the humor of listening to the song in his G*d-awful voice is classic.

The premise? Cartman channeled Lady Gaga while playing Rock Band, but Stan wanted the gang to join him protesting the Japanese killing whales and dolphins.

They refused, and then used the song in a montage as Stan led a group of pirates (Sea Shepard) to attack the Japanese whalers. Pretty much speaks for itself.
