One day after French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy told PETA that she no longer wears real fur, Michelle Obama made her own animal-friendly announcement.

"Mrs. Obama does not wear fur," deputy press secretary Semonti Mustaphi said.

Obama and Bruni-Sarkozy - who have met twice in recent months - are both widely known as celebrity fashion icons as well as prominent political wives.

PETA pushed Carla Bruni-Sarkozy - who was photographed wearing what appeared to be real fur - in particular to donate her coats to the homeless.

"I do not wear, buy or own fur or animal skin other than leather or skin of animals raised for feeding purposes," she wrote to PETA, adding, "I am not a vegetarian, and I don't find it illogical to wear skins of animals whose meat is eaten."

FUR REAL: Don't expect Michelle or Carla to don mink coats anytime soon.

Unlike Carla, Michelle wasn't targeted by PETA, which says the wife of Barack Obama is "known to be fur-free," according to PETA's media coordinator, Amanda Schinke.

Still, the mother of Malia and Sasha followed suit with the former supermodel, releasing a statement that fur will never be part of the First Lady's famous wardrobe.

"For Michelle Obama, respecting animals is part of the social progress that she and her husband are working so hard to promote," PETA Senior V.P. Dan Mathews said.

"By officially rejecting fur, these two style icons will make people around the world see fur for what it is: old-fashioned and cruel."

We've seen it all before, but a photo of Carla Bruni nude is expected to fetch a high price when it goes up for auction in Berlin, Germany, next week.

Only 10 copies exist of the risque image of the French First Lady taken by photographer Pamela Hanson in 1994, the height of Carla Bruni's modeling fame.

At the time, she was 26 and dating Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger.

What would Michelle Obama say about her fellow First Lady fashion icon?

The intimate, black-and-white, nude image of the 41-year-old wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy is 16' x 24' and entitled "Carla Bruni In Bed."

Though provocative, the latest picture is less revealing than the full-frontal photo of Carla Bruni naked which fetched a staggering £60,000 a year ago.

A nude sketch of the First Lady is also being sold in Paris next month as part of an exhibition of glamour girls called "Pin-Up." Certainly a worthy title!

After their fashionable London visit, Michelle Obama and her husband Barack landed in Strasbourg, France today. Whisked from Air Force One to the city's Rohan Palace, the Obamas met the French President and his wife for the first time.

The two super-stylish first ladies were scheduled to have lunch today, with the celebrity gossip media set to burn a new hole in the ozone layer over France.

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, the First Lady of France, has been awarded $57,500 in damages after she successfully sued a fashion company for plastering its shopping bags with a 1993 nude photo of the former model.

"The unauthorized use of the image of Carla Bruni caused her moral and economic damage," ruled a court on the French Indian Ocean island of La Reunion.

Lawyers for Bruni-Sarkozy say her monetary award will likely be given to charity.

A buyer for a Chinese art collector purchased the black-and-white 1993 photo and, we can only assume, plans to display it next to the most scantily clad Michelle Obama picture he can find.

French president Nicolas Sarkozy started his first official visit to the UK - the day after it was reported that an auction house is to sell Carla Bruni nude pictures.

How's that for great political timing!

Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni (now officially Carla Bruni-Sarkozy), who married in February, were greeted by the Prince of Wales and by the Duchess of Cornwall after the presidential plane landed in London Wednesday.

The French president's schedule included a full state banquet at Windsor Castle on Wednesday night, where he is staying as the guest of the queen.

On Wednesday afternoon, Sarkozy addressed both British Houses of Parliament in French and discussed many important matters of state.

But away from the politics, Nicolas Sarkozy's wife was attracting as much, if not more, attention than her husband during the two-day visit.

The famous auction house Christie's is to sell nude photographs of former model Bruni-Sarkozy, taken by Michel Comte in 1993, in New York next month.

Carla Bruni may be the First Lady of France, but she's still a model at heart!

The new wife of French President Nikolas Sarkozy proves as much in a pictorial from the April edition of GQ.

The following photo may not be on the (naked) level of Maria Kanellis in Playboy, but it's more revealing than Laura Bush has been for the last seven years.

Thank goodness.

Carla Bruni looks sexy in this GQ photo shoot. Call us crazy, but we doubt Michelle Obama nude pictures will pop up in a magazine any time soon.

The French may not love their new First Lady, but one of the world's leading music publications has nothing but positive things to say about Carlia Bruni.

The former supermodel, who married President Nicolas Sarkozy earlier this month, has a new album on the market. And Billboard magazine thinks it's wonderful.

"Pure pleasure," raves the music-industry publication of Bruni's No Promises. "Less than a minute into Carla Bruni's second album, you're just like the French president: hopelessly seduced."

Wow. American Idol hopefuls such as Brooke White can only pray for that sort of praise from Simon Cowell and company.

Billboard's final summation of Bruni's latest work? "As mature as it is playful."
