Joe Giudice has been sentenced to 41 months behind bars.

The former pizza parlor owner and husband of Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice arrived (looking “serious and sad,” an observer tells E! News) around 9 a.m. today in federal court, holding hands on his way inside with his wife.

The couple – who pleaded guilty in March to various counts of financial fraud – appeared before U.S. District Court Judge Esther Salas at 10 a.m. ET.

She at first went over the “glaring omissions” – from cars to home furnishings to insurance policies – on the Giudice’s financial disclosure forms, as the prosecutor argued these represented a “pattern of deception, dishonesty and concealment.”

Despite claims by Joe and Terea’s attorney that items inside the family’s home aren’t worth a lot because they are brought in by the show’s production company, Judge Salas told the Giudices that it all looks as “if things have been hidden or concealed” from the government.

“I’m going to tell you that it leaves with this court a feeling of uneasiness,” she said.

In the end, Joe was sentenced to the aforementioned 41 months and ordered to pay $414,588.90 in restitution fees to Wells Fargo, plus another $10,000 to the government.

Prior to sentencing, Joe stood up and read from a pre-written letter, telling the court:

“I stand here humiliated before the court and my family and society. I disgraced many people, including my wife and four daughters. I take full responsibility for my actions. I promise to be a better person.”
