Herpes Found on Copy of Fifty Shades of Grey at Library

If ever there were a case for buying books brand new instead of borrowing them from the library, this might be it.

Herpes was found on copies of Fifty Shades of Grey when two Belgian scientists decided to test the top 10 borrowed books from the Antwerp Library to see what sort of disgusting things they might find.

You guys.

They found HERPES. And cocaine. But...herpes!! ALL THE HAND SANITIZER!

While the scientists did say that they didn't find enough herpes on the books for a person to contract the virus, they did find enough cocaine for a person to fail a drug test.

What are people DOING with their library books?! Do we even want to know?

No, no we do don't.

Ok A. The HSV virus can't live on that kind of surface for more than a few seconds at most so they most likely found the dead virus. you cant get 'herpes' from a book just like you can't get it from a toilet seat, and B. They don't specify which type. Hsv1 afflicts nearly 75% of the population (usually as cold sores) and HSV2 afflicts more than a third of the population (usually as 'genital herpes'). I hate stories like these because they spread stigma about the virus! Herpes is a blanket term for everything from chicken pox and shingles (yes thats a herpatic virus) to 'genital herpes'.
