A photo of Michigan bride Paige Eding's quiet moment at her late father's grave site on her wedding day this month has gone viral, for obvious reasons.
A father walking a daughter down the aisle is one of those time-honored life moments, so a joyous occasion was also a painful reminder of loss.
Still grieving after her father passed away unexpectedly in 2011, the 23-year-old bride knew she wanted to share the big day with him somehow.
She asked photographer Kari Wieringa of Zander & Breck to capture the above scene, and she did so with an image that is worth a thousand words.
Or maybe ten thousand.
"I lost my mom when I was seven," Wieringa said, "so I understand her desire to go do that. It all seemed pretty normal, she looked fine, and so we're standing there."
"I'm ready to take pictures, and she just fell," Wieringa recalled.
"It was a moment of longing and wishing for him," Eding said.
"I was so sad that he wasn't there physically ... but I was also joyous ... Through my family, he still lives on inside of each one of us."
