why single out Selena.. No different than Madonna donning rosaries in her sexy videos through the 80s.. People wear those everyday as jewelry and NOT for the religious use it is intended for..

In many places in India, women can barely walk out of their homes safely. Girls are being beaten up at parties for "violating moral codes" by Hindu extremists. And Selena wearing a bindi is the only thing this society got to make a big deal about? Wow. I live in a totally "awesome' country. *rolling my eyes* So annoying I could slap them.

Oh who cares Indian people!!!? Prostitutes and Strippers in India wear bindis all the time, in fact all across Asia! And now it's a problem coz Selena has worn one, give me a break!

I dont think its disrespectful, LOL I am HINDU.. who the hell care about this... Its just a bindi. There's alot of bollywood celebs used to be more seductive effect with BINDI.. hahaa Here SELENA did nothing ... Who the hell is Rajan Zed .. haha

    @ VIPIN

I totally agree with you. And I am Hindu too. This is just a cheap attention grabbing trick by this "society"! I mean, maybe 1% of the Indian Hindu population have heard of this society. This was the first time I heard of these guys. And Selena was actually so decent, if you compare to what Indian celebs do, wearing their bindis- Dancing vulgarly in the rain in a WHITE saree, anyone? It's just hypocrisy.

Gwen Stefani did the same thing years ago, and I don't recall this type of backlash. Was there any?

    @ Jordan

Jordan, I was just about to say the same thing, and I remember when No Doubt put out their first album and Gwen was wearing a bindi (and has done so, numerous times since), and there was no backlash... It seems now a days, people are just itching tobitch about something...

It probably was not even her decision! Lets think about this these people have stylists and costumers!!!!! And even if she did, there are so many others that have worn these fashions, etc why all of a sudden are the singling out one person?

She's young, she's a performer. Many before her have used this bindi. Why pick her out? Same with Bieber..."he hoped A. Frank would have been a belieber." Why, why make such a fuss?

Apparently celebrities are meant to be the most intelligent beings in America. Everyone expects them to know everything about everyone and if they don't how dare they? Maybe that dude should apologize to Selena for not realizing that celebrities miss a lot of schooling to focus on their careers.

How does anyone know her reasoning for wearing it?

LOTS of celebs have worm this style. HELLO?!?! Early Gwen Stefani for example. I dont recall her getting backlash for it! Shes young, she made a "mistake". Why be so harsh on her? She is a good role model and stays out of trouble. Plus... shouldnt her stylist/publicist look into this before letting her wear it on stage??

    @ Montana

Good role model? Are you talking about THIS girl? A girl who was part of spring breakers, acting and dressing as a stoner slut? Idk what you think is a good role model... But that isn't it
