Annette Funicello, a former actress and pop star many have labeled as the "Queen" of the Mickey Mouse Club, died today. She was 70 years old.
Funicello admitted in 1992 that she had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She lost the ability to walk eight years later and required constant care by 2009.
Sources tell Extra that Funicello had been hospitalized in Bakersfield, California due to complications from this disease and had been in a coma for numerous years.
An ex-Mouseketeer, Funicello starred in such 1960s films as Beach Party and Beach Blanket Bingo.
She is survived by her husband and three kids and we send our best wishes to her family and loved ones.
