The WWE lost one of its iconic former managers last night.
Paul Bearer, the man who was by The Undertaker's side throughout a bulk of that veteran wrestler's career, passed away yesterday from health problems related to his obesity, sources confirm to TMZ. He was 58.
Bearer (real name: William Moody) portrayed a funeral director who carried around an urn, moving on to manager such grapplers as Kane and Mankind after The Undertaker.
He suffered from gallbladder problems for many years and the WWE issued the following statement upon his passing:
"WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of William Moody, aka Paul Bearer.
Moody made his WWE debut in 1991 as the manager of The Undertaker and went on to become a memorable part of WWE over the course of the next 20 years. Our deepest condolences go out to Moody’s family, friends and fans."
