Contrary to previous reports, Miley Cyrus does not appear to be fighting with Liam Hemsworth and all it well between the couple.

But the young superstar is itching for a fight of a very different kind, mother Tish Cyrus confirms to E! News.

She has joined celebrities such as Alec Baldwin, Lea Michele, Pamela Anderson and Joan Jett in the fight to ban horse-drawn carriage rides in New York City.

Miley Cyrus Profile

"Miley grew up around animals and with all our horses growing up, so she is very passionate about protecting all animals," Tish says, explaining her family's support for a petition against the practice.

A spokesperson for New Yorkers for Clean, Livable & Safe Streets says the Cyrus family has been instrumental is helping the organization gather 100,000 signatures on a document that shows support for the ban.

"Miley's fans have been amazing" in the effort, Mama Cyrus says, adding that the clan would consider turning its 500-acre Nashville farm into a horse sanctuary for retired carriage pullers.

Miley, of course, has always been a major animal advocate. She seems to adopt a new puppy every week.

"You all made my mama and all the horses so happy :)," the singer/actress Tweeted this week. "my fans really do come in handy xx."

If we weren't suppose to use horses for working what are we suppose to use them for? I have had horses for years and they were put on this earth to use whether to ride or pull wagons or carriages. IF they are being abused take the person to court. They are the ones that need to go to jail. If you see a person beat a dog are you going to take away the rights of everyone who has a dog or the person who abused the animal? It's getting crazy when you think an animal shouldn't be used to work whether its riding, working or pulling a wagon. Common sense should be used with all things and I for one do not see any here. No one loves animals more than I. I have 4 dogs and several cats that were left when a neighbor moved. I had horses for years and loved them all.

Get those horses out of the street of NYC time to live in 2013 not 1800.
The westies thugs mob they are notorious in the horse carriage business of organized crime, excelling in exertion numbers running drugs illegal drivers loansharking etc. this animals don't belong in the city and the people that are driving this carriages are many illegal and they are animals abusers. Time to evolved .

Interesting since she has never been in any of the NYC carriage horse stables and, as far as I am aware, has never spoken with anyone associated with the NYC carriage horses. You would think that someone subjected to her fair share of gossip and innuendo, not based on any first-hand knowledge, would know better, but I guess not.

don't do that, miley.
