"Obliterates" is a good word for the devastation that Serena reeked on Sharapova. Serena has been majestic throughout the Olympics. A succession of the world's top players have been paraded before her as challengers, and in repsonse  she has brutally crushed, dismantled, humiliated, dominated, destroyed, broken, and battered them into submission. Finally Sharapova was put up as a credable opponent but the magnificent Williams shattered her in one game of dominant serving power and then she humiliated the Russian in an overwhelming display of physical superiority. Unable to match her powerful opponent, the tall, slightly built Russian crumbled to dust in the face of Serena's vastly superior power.
