Sheriff Joe Arpaio: Obama Birth Certificate a "Forgery"

Stirring up "birther" controversy yet again, Maricopa County (Ariz.) Sheriff Joe Arpaio said he suspects the President Obama's birth certificate released last year is fake.
Armed with a 10-page report he personally commissioned, Arpaio said he suspects Obama's long form birth certificate is merely a “computer-generated forgery.”
Arpaio also raised questions about the authenticity of the president’s selective service registration card. He said he would like Congress to investigate the matter.
“Based on all of the evidence presented and investigated, I cannot in good faith report to you that these documents are authentic,” Sheriff Arpaio said last week.
“My investigators believe the long-form birth certificate was manufactured electronically and that it did not originate in paper format as claimed by the White House.”
Arpaio repeatedly said he is not questioning Obama's legal status under the Constitution nor alleging fraud on Obama’s part, but did say there is evidence of crimes.
The controversial lawman believes someone close to the president has tampered with or forged documents and he is required to investigate under Arizona law.
Fact-checking groups have concluded the certificates are authentic, of course, and Obama has even joked about the sideshow that has followed his presidency.
At last year’s White House Correspondents Association Dinner, he ridiculed Donald Trump, who had said that his own investigators were looking into the matter.But Sheriff Arpaio, who built a national profile by creating tent cities for jail inmates and by taking a tough stance on immigration, could reignite the controversy.
Last December, the Justice Department accused Arpaio of civil rights abuses, sparking debate over whether his latest "birther" crusade is politically motivated.
Arpaid said he began his investigation before that - in August 2011 - after tea party members from Surprise, Ariz., signed a petition challenging the certificate.
Joe Arpaio has a history of launching investigations of his enemies, however, be they journalists, judges, Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, you name it.
For years, notes the Tucson Citizen (a vocal Obama critic, no less), if you criticized Joe Arpaio, you'd soon be staring down often baseless criminal investigations.

John, if you will watch the video of his press conference carefully, you will realize that he is trying to determine what action he CAN take (and remain alive). He has no evidence that the president himself has committed a crime, only that the document the president says is authentic is a fabrication. Joe has done his job. Now I believe the public should demand, through it's elected representatives (Congress), that Obama appear before congress and in sworn testimony state that this is his authentic certificate. The Roger Clemens fiasco is NOTHING compared to this question: Have we in fact HAD a president the past 3 years? It needs to be settled quickly. Otherwise none of the laws Congress has passed and Obama has signed are valid.
The "document" posted on line as Obama's birth certificate was clearly created in Adobe Illustrator or equivalent program. It is NOT a scanned image of any document (birth certificate or whatever). The president has said in public that it is his birth certificate. Now let him swear before Congress or in a Court of Law that it is his authentic birth certificate, documenting accurately his time and place of birth.... A lying sociopath has no qualms about fabricating the truth, in private or in public, but might think twice about committing the crime of perjury. BTW, these people are really stupid (whoever is trying to sell this image as authentic). All they had to do was create the Illustrator image, print it out, and scan the printout in, and the forgery would not have been detected (at least not this easily).
