Demi Lovato on Recovery: An Ongoing Journey

by at . Comments

Demi Lovato says her recovery from "emotional and physical issues" is an ongoing struggle, but one she's doing well with on a road to recovery.

In her new song, "Skyscraper," she sings about being torn down, but rising above adversity - a familiar topic from her real-life experiences.

"This is an ongoing process," she says. "The hardest part about these diseases is that they're things that I'm going to have to face every day."

Lovato, who may or may not be dating Ryan Phillippe, is definitely back on the music scene in a big way, with a renewed sense of confidence.

Since her three-month stay in rehab, she's come a long way in a fight with bulimia, anorexia, self-mutilation, depression and bipolar disorder.

"I'm going to mess up, and I'm not going to be perfect," she says.

"But as long as I try every day to get better and better myself, then I'm one step ahead of where I was before. They are issues that every girl deals with ... it doesn't help being in front of cameras while I'm trying to be in recovery.

So why not live a more private life? Because music helps her, she says, so the sacrifice of remaining in the public eye is one she's willing to make.

"I thought, 'Music is something that keeps me healthy and that has saved my life at one point,'" she says. "I love it, I'm not going to give it up."

You don't have to be rube cause that makes YOU look bad.for example i super dislike joe jonas but i don't mind!in advance he's a horrible actor plus he's behaved so ugly to so many people especially girls.the boy is for a servant not a relationship.so should he be told to shut up or get lost?no man,AT LEAST DEMETRA DOES HAVE A GOOD VOICE!

@Ernando Sanchez well. she doesnt feel sorry for herself or anything. she talks bout her issues to help other people and i think thats a really great thing to do. she doesnt want fame. she once said sth like "if i at least save one persons life than i am happy enough". i think she is really sweet and caring. i think she already saved many peoples life by sharing her story and telling other people what she went through and that there can be help. she opens up to the world to tell other people that many people have to fight those issues and that i can get better. she is really sweet to make this such a big deal .. helping other people. if she wanted to she could just lean back and enjoy life. shes got enough money, but she wont do that. shell help as good as she can. (besides. her voice is really, really amazing. shell make it really far.. just saying...)

I wish she would just shut up already. People have it a lot worse.

I think she is very corageous and I am so glad that she has let people know what she went through because sometimes we forget how much pressure these start have on them and people expect them to be perfect but they are humans just like us and they have flaws just like everyone else, however being in the lime light they get seen where everyone else gets forgotten. I think she is great and I still love her and her music.
