Alice Tan Ridley: The Next Susan Boyle?
It's true, folks: America's Got Talent - and her name is Alice Tan Ridley!
The 58-year old singer shocked judges with her vocal range on last night's audition show, taking to the stage in New York City and explaining that she typically sings for city subway riders.
What else is unique about Ridley? She's the other of Oscar-nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe. Seriously! Watch and be amazed now:

Ridley is fantastic! She wants to make it on her own, not on her daughter's coat tails. Her voice is fantastic, and I think she did At Last much much better than either Etta James or Beyonce. She reminds me of Mahalia Jackson, who voice is absolutely the best I have ever heard! I am a big Susan Boyle fan, but Ridley has an ease about her that Boyle does not have. I hope she goes far, because of her talent. She will handle fame with aplomb and it won't get to her at all, except in a good way.

"You must have an identity and a uniqueness about you to truly be a star. Nothing against her but all I see is a metro bus driver with a good voice."
Randyjacksonbutt, nothing against you but all I see from your comment is a racist who pigeonholes people.

The Etta James' version of "At Last" was featured on (a) The Sopranos Wedding episode a few years ago,and Beyonce did her rendition of "At Last" as the first song and dance of the evening at The Innauguaration Ball for President and First Lady Michelle Obama.

Bigdog...the song is "At Last" by Etta James. Look it up. It's a classic.

In my opinion, there are several remarkable things about this woman. The fact that she has a sucessful daughter (whose talent she no doubt nutured and fostered) doesn't detract from her own accomplishments.
1. She DOES have a daughter who is successful. Other parents of successful children actors are sometimes content to sit back and take full advantage of the child's paycheck. This woman is pursuing HER dream.
2. She's 58. How many 58 year old women do you see still dreaming, hoping, TRYING. She's got great spirit and determination.
3. Guts... The woman has guts. Not to mention a sense of humor. I'd like to see some of the people trashing her get up on that stage and do half as well.
I am not ordinarily someone who posts opinions on websites. I am not ordinarily someone who watches shows like America's Got Talent. I am not someone who is blown away by the many singers.
ALICE, you blew me away......

There will never be another SuBo in my book, her voice is so pure and innocent and I get goosebumps when I hear her, but this woman is really very talented.
I wish her a lot of luck.

Have to agree with randyjacksonsbutt. Not unique and certainly no SuBo! Sorry. Incidentally, she did namedrop her daughter's name in the pre-interview, tho her daughter has probably already had her 15 minutes.

Bravo!!!
THG, thank you for the video, I did not see Alice's audition last night,so it is appreciated that you included her in today's headlines.
I saw Alice on GMA during the Oscar Season. Not only does she have a powerhouse voice, but she is deeply humbled in her ways and actions, which already says a lot about her.Singing in the subways for 20 years represents a sign of doing what you like to do. One thing that is a credit to her is the fact that she does not name drop her daughter, and is headed for stardom on her own name.

Not another one!
Again, a lot of people have talent but that doesn't make them a superstar. Most people can draw better than Pablo Picasso but they aren't "Pablo Picasso". You must have an identity and a uniqueness about you to truly be a star.
Nothing against her but all I see is a metro bus driver with a good voice.
