Tyra Banks' Real Hair: Revealed!

Tyra Banks is going back to her roots and turning over a new leaf. Literally in the case of the former, and as a figure of speech when it comes to the latter.

On today's season premiere of The Tyra Show, the talk show host's fifth, the supermodel took the stage with a new hairstyle. That being her real hair.

That's right. Real hair. No wigs, no extensions. No bull.

Tyra Banks' real hair was on display for all to see as her long tresses were styled on camera. She interviewed women who have insecurities about natural hair.

The girlfriend of John Utendahl said she wants to generate maximum attention redefine beauty and help women appreciate who they are, inside and out.

Tyra's show is moving from syndication to the CW, airing weekdays at 4 p.m. Her reality show, America's Next Top Model, begins its 13th cycle tomorrow.

ET has a clip of Tyra Banks' real hair. Peep it below ...

Well that was kind of anti climactic.

you go girl . that the one . show what you can do .

  3. Adrienne Says:

Tyra's hair is natural, just like her boobs are natural! Her hair is still altered by chemicals (straighten with relaxers, possibly colored). That's not natural--she wasn't born with straight hair! What a disappointment! And to come out there with it wet… what's the point of that? To further hide that her kinky/curly hair has been relaxed? I was hoping to see Tyra with the natural hair she was born with. Black women subject their hair to so much trauma with the relaxers and heat—not to mention the time and money spent on getting it straight. Black women need to be proud of the hair that God has given them. It doesn’t have to be relaxed to be considered beautiful. It would have been nice to see her truly natural. It’s kind of like she’s still deceiving her audience.

    She looks great anyway

  5. Anabella Says:

    Well said, Adrienne!

I certainly have no philosophical problem with women with naturally kinky hair wearing it straight via relaxers, but if you're trumpeting about going natural then let it be natural. I'm Puerto Rican and still carry some painful memories of kids in school kidding me about my hair with I was little. I relaxed it the minute my mother decided I was old enough to do so, but like Adrienne said those chemicals really beat the crap out of one's hair. It took me a long time to be happy with my natural hair and let it be what it wants to be.

Tight kinky curls is a dominant trait and if you have even some African heritage your curl is gonna want to curl. I've no doubt Tyra's hair wasn't nattty in that clip. It seems she's still not comfortable with her hair in it's natural form.

  6. Ms. Mac Says:

Tyra talked about her real hair, not natural hair. And that is her hair strand by strand. And it is beautiful, gorgeous and it is hers which is why so many people are angry, furious. Now she's a phony cause she has a perm? Pleassssssssssse.. Well if she is a phony for wearing a chemical, then so are 98% of all women of all colors and cultures in this great country of ours. That is her choice. But the fact that the hair is growing out of the roots of her scalp makes it "her" hair. How she chooses to wear it is her business.

  7. Felicia Says:

I do not understand what is the problem with perming or leaving your hair natural. I actually think she has great hair to be weaving and doing so much to it over the years and it still looks heatlthy. Coming on stage with the hair wet proves that it is all her hair. No matter what choice you make with your hair it is your choice. Natural hair is just has hard to deal with and takes more money to do that permed hair. Especially those that lock it. Why do we care so much about the outside. Tyra and black women are just beautiful because we are different. No one talks about white people who invented wigs, weaves and if I am not mistaken Perms were invented for manageability of the hair. So people relax. Look on the inside and how successful she has been.

  8. nikki Says:

she is a busy woman, and therefore, it makes sense that her hair is relaxed! Having "Natural" hair, takes way more time and effort to manage, believe it or not! Relaxing your hair, requires attention to moisture, as well as protective styling in order to achieve the kind of length that Tyra has! My hair is relaxed too, and frankly, I love it! My mother and my cousins chopped off their beautiful hair to go "natural", and though they are still beautiful, it takes them an extremely long time to style their hair! At my job, I need to wear my hair up, reguardless! If I were to have a natural style, my hair would constantly be breaking off at the point where I clip it up. With my hair relaxed, all I have to do is wrap it, and get going! And on my days off, I have far more flexible styling options. If I want my hair to look like a nappy afro, all I need to do is braid it while its wet, let it air dry, and then tousle out my braids!Natural look achieved! But I can also wear it slick straight, without having to use a flat iron and serums! Frankly, it is far less damaging to use the no-lye chemical relaxer every 7 months, than it is to fry my hair with a blow dryer and ion flat iron any time I want to have straight hair.Stop hating! That girl has extrodinary long beautiful hair.So what if she relaxed the curl-that doesn't mean she can't get her hair back to it's curly style! Relaxers make your hair styling options more flexible.I hear my cousins say how much they love their natural styles, but I also hear how difficult it is for them to change things up even temporarily.

  9. cindy1986 Says:

oh yes i truly agree with adrienne and annabella thats not how her hair naturally is , so i dont understand how that can be considered natural and nikki yes your right it is hard to manage that type of hair BUT the whole point about it that is being missed is NATURAL HAIR and that definately is not natural hair

  10. Tonya Says:

Maybe Tyra should have picked a better choice of words instead of saying natural maybe she should have said real! But the fact still remains the same it is her real hair, she was born with it so it is hers!!!!!!! Even though it maybe relaxed it doesn't matter it still is hers!
