For almost a week, fans waited to learn what name Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald would choose for their firstborn son.
It wasn't that the couple was being secretive, as many of us thought; they were just in no rush to name the little guy.
In a recent interview with People magazine, Jessa stated that she and Ben were taking their time with this process.
They placed tremendous importance on the decision and they hoped to come up with "a strong name with a lot of meaning."
In the end, they decided on Spurgeon.
Yes, Jessa and Ben's boy is named Spurgeon Elliot Seewald, and not surprisingly, the choice has been met with a mixed response online.
Love it or loathe it, in the video below, the Seewalds explain how why they selected the highly unique moniker. Jessa says:
"His nickname has been Quincy since we first found out we were pregnant, and we've been working on deciding on a name and we finally figured it out."
"So his name is Charles Elliot Spurgeon and why we named him that, Charles Spurgeon was a preacher that lived back in the 19th century.
"He had a big impact on our lives through his writings," Ben adds.
"His sermons and books are still around today."
So there you have it. Jessa concludes by reminding us that her baby is HUGE, which will probably come in handy as he goes through life.
With a name like Spurgeon, it could be vital.
