It's no surprise that the Duggars are a very, very conservative family, both with regard to their religious views and their politics.
Still, more moderate fans of the Counting On clan tend to hold out hope that their favorite Duggars might secretly harbor beliefs that are a little more 2020, and a little less 1950.
The recent anti-Jim Bob rebellion within the family has stirred hope that some of the Duggar women might lean a little bit toward the center in their views.
But a new video posted by Jana seems to prove that as much as some of JB's kids might take issue with his rules, they're sill 100 percent on board with his politics.
The clip features 19-year-old James Duggar creating some "lawn art" with a weedeater.
At first, it's unclear what sort of design Justin is etching into his family's front lawn.
On her Instagram page, Jana linked to the YouTube clip without giving any indication that there was a political component to the post.
“James is so creative and is always surprising us with the things he comes up with!” she wrote.
“Check out the new yard artwork he did with just a weedeater!”
Some fans were a bit surprised to see that James' art consisted of a giant “TRUMP 2020” design.
Obviously, the Duggars are staunch Republicans, but 2020 is a year unlike any other, and it seems that lots of Jana's fans were hoping that she would take a slightly more nuanced view of our current political climate.
“A family that speaks of Christian values and love supports a man that spreads so much hate,” one fan commented, adding, “Disappointing.”
“I like you a lot Jana and I think you’re really smart but that man doesn’t have an ounce of goodness in his heart,” another wrote.
“Can’t believe I’m disappointed right now over things I already knew.”
On the r/DuggarSnark subreddit, critics gloried in the fact that Jana seemed to be losing followers as a result of her political post.
“As of 1:30 p.m. PST, Jana’s Instagram is in the red for followers!” one user noted.
“It may only be 100ish people, but it’s a contrast to her past trends — better than nothing!”
“Genuinely confused why she would do this — I imagined she had a touch more social media savvy than that,” another commenter wrote.
“Especially as she’s trying to ‘launch a business’ and make money as an influencer.”
“Lots of comments expressing disappointment on the Trump lawn post … wonder if she reads the comments,” a third chimed in.
It is rather confusing that Jana would decide to surrender her neutrality and make such an overt political statement so late in election season.
In all likelihood, she's a single-issue, anti-abortion voter like the rest of her family, but knowing how high emotions are running this year, you'd think she would quietly cast her vote without issuing an endorsement.
As many fans have pointed out, Jana seemed to be building a career as an influencer, and her popularity with fans is heavily reliant on her reputation as "the different Duggar."
But it seems that while Jana has defied tradition by remaining single, in all the important ways, her beliefs align with ol' Jim Bob's.
