Tyler and Catelynn Baltierra are in a sort of weird place these days.
The couple is married, and also expecting a baby, but also living apart.
As documented on multiple episodes of Teen Mom OG, Tyler and Catelynn are trying a separation because the former feels like he needs some space at times.
It’s an unusual arrangement, and Catelynn isn’t fully on board, but both MTV stars swear they are committed to their marriage.
Along those lines, they just gushed adorably about each other on Instagram!

This Latest Lovefest Started with a Poem
Tyler penned a lengthy one as a caption to the photo you see here. For context sake, we’re gonna go ahead and share the entire thing …
Part 1:
my brain is not normal/my thoughts aren’t desirable/my desires are uncomfortable/they may all be relatable/but man they’re despicable/I’m so sick of being difficult/& fighting these emotions/that I need to start accepting/it’s so damn pitiful!
Part 2:
I’m always putting everyone else ahead of me but yet they don’t seem to see that I refuse to sacrifice for the one person that truly matters which is me & I don’t mean to sound conceited but if you don’t love yourself & ignore all those dreams that just collect dust on the shelf you can never really be any help to yourself.

So don’t put everyone else ahead of the truth, that realizing the most important one is you if you ever want to win…because without a healthy you, you’ll never be any help to anyone in the end #WritingIsFreeing.

Tyler Took Note

Why is This Noteworthy?
Because, we we mentioned previously, Tyler has asked Catelynn for a separation… of sorts. He wants the couple to live apart for 30 days here and there — while still attending therapy together and still hanging out as a family on occasion. He just needs a break from the drama sometimes.
Remember These Words?
“When does it ever turn around?” he asked some friends on a Teen Mom episode in November. “When is it ever 50/50?! I’m saying this is what I need, awesome. If you can’t, let me know now. I don’t want to waste any time, let me get out of here. Marriage is a bitch.” Ouch, right?
Tyler Has Even Moved Out
But he hasn’t gone far. “It’s only eight minutes down the road,†Tyler emphasized on another episode. “We’re just living separate. It’s not like we’re dating other people and never talking to each other for 30 days. We all need personal space sometimes.”
Yeah, But…
“… I don’t want this kind of space every couple years,” Catelynn smartly countered, wondering what kind of marriage they will have if they just keep living apart here and there.
And Let’s Not Forget…
… Catelynn is pregnant! A baby girl is due in March. Sadly, “Tyler has been distant lately, so it’s hard to be excited about this pregnancy,” she recently said.
Tyler Has Tried to Explain His Side
“It’s funny because we actually don’t even call it separation anymore,” he told Us Weekly last month. “We say, ‘Let’s just do 30 days of self-reflection time. You get to focus on you, I get to focus on me. We’ll continue to do couples’ therapy…”
Yup, They Still See Each Other
“We’ve got a great therapist who works really good with us, so [we’re] kind of following her advice on top of the separation, whatever you wanna call it,” he added in this same interview.
It’s Just SELF-REFLECTION!
“When you say ‘separation,’ everyone’s like, ‘Oh my god, a separation?†he added. “It’s not like we’re seeing other people or we’re not talking at all or not spending time with each other.”

“The main goal is to stay with my wife and live this life. We love each other,” Tyler has said.
And What About Nova?
“I’ve been here at the house fixing stuff up while she and Nova have been here,” Tyler says of his young daughter. “Honestly [we’re] taking our space when we need it. Nova’s been really surprisingly taking it really well. She’s been really great with everything.”
What are the Holiday Plans with Her?
“Tyler and Catelynn will celebrate Christmas with Nova as a family. They are still committed and still a family, so they will spend the holidays together under one roof — even if they continue with this time apart,†a source close to the pair tells Us Weekly. “They are taking it day by day when it comes to this separation, but they have every intention of being together on Christmas no matter what.â€Â
