Back in October, Ryan Edwards checked into rehab after years of battling substance abuse issues.
His intentions were clear, and the stakes couldn’t have been higher.
With a second child on the way, his marriage hanging in the balance, and a slew of legal issues threatening his freedom, Ryan needed to break his addiction to heroin.
Now, the troubled Teen Mom OG star is confident that he’ll be able to stay clean, but there’s still ample cause for concern.

Second Time’s the Charm
Ryan checked into rehab for the second time on October 9. He originally planned to remain in treatment for 90 days.
Emergency Situation
His treatment caused Ryan to miss the birth of his son Jagger, but all involved agreed that it was necessary for him to check in immediately.
Tempting Fate?
Now, Ryan is out of treatment, and those closest to the troubled former reality star are said to be confident in his ability to remain sober. But there’s still cause for concern …
A Dangerous Move
For starters, Ryan has checked out of treatment well ahead of schedule, leaving after just 45 days of a planned 90-day program.
Home For the Holidays
According to a report published today by Radar Online, Ryan returned home on Thanksgiving, escorted by his long-suffering wife, Mackenzie Standifer.
Return to the Mack
“She left early in the morning on Thanksgiving and missed dinner with her family,” an insider tells the site.
Homecoming
“She flew with the baby to get Ryan,” the source adds. “They’re back home now.”
Standifer By Her Man
Mackenzie has stood by Ryan through some incredibly trying times, but that doesn’t mean her commitment to her husband is unconditional.
A Lot on the Line
According to the insider, Mackenzie has made it clear to Ryan that she won’t tolerate another slip-up.
An Ultimatum
“If he relapses again, she’s going to file for divorce,” the source says.
The Breaking Point
“She’s serious,” the source adds. “She doesn’t want to continue to be with someone who doesn’t help himself.”
Through the Wringer
To say that Mackenzie has been through a lot as a result of her marriage to Ryan would be a massive understatement.
The Downward Spiral
Ryan has been arrested three times in the past 18 months for possession and probation violations.
The Last Rock Bottom
Ryan previously checked into rehab last year, shortly after marrying Mackenzie. Edwards was so high on their wedding day that he passed out while driving to the ceremony.
An Unsettling Pattern
On that occasion, Ryan left his 30 day program after just 21 days.
Instant Relapse
Shortly thereafter, Edwards was arrested for failing a court-ordered drug test.
A Familiar Path
Sadly, Mackenzie has been down this road with Ryan before. The father of two has pledged to stay sober on numerous occasions.

And as TMOG fans know, Ryan’s continued substance abuse has come with a heavy price.
A Frightening Situation
At one point, Ryan’s erratic behavior led him to issue violent threats toward Maci Bookout’s husband, Taylor McKinney.
A Broken Family
This led to a situation in which Ryan was not legally permitted to contact Bentley, his 8-year-old son with Maci.
Unemployed
Most recently, Ryan’s addiction caused him to be fired from Teen Mom OG.
Triumphant Return
Mackenzie was initially reported to be fired as well, but she appears on the show’s current season.
Will Ryan Follow Suit?
Naturally, fans are beginning to wonder if Ryan will also return to the series that made him famous.

“They’re unsure about if he’ll actually film,” the source says, adding that the decision has mostly been left up to Mackenzie.

“She wants their image to look better than what the show has portrayed in the past,” the source says. Maybe Ryan should just focus on his sobriety for the time being …

Ryan’s mother, Jen Edwards, now says that Ryan has not left rehab and is still undergoing treatment.
