On 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? Season 7, Episode 14, several conflicts took on new forms.
Angela has to reassure Michael’s family that she’s not a threat, even though she is.
Big Ed immediately breaks a promise to Liz. Libby and Andrei have to face reality.
Jenny’s family wants to meet Sumit’s. Yara finally reunites with her refugee friend.
And Kimberly is still processing the passing of her mother when Usman blindsides her.
Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi
Michael spoke to the camera about how Angela’s horrifying surprise visit to his home has sent shockwaves through his family. His neighbors heard it. Everyone knows how poorly behaved his wife is.
By the way, that confrontation was worse than we knew

It appears that editors deliberately withheld footage that showed Angela physically attack Michael upon seeing him. Her screams, insults, and damage to his car were already abuse, but this shows that it escalated to domestic violence. Many viewers have long suspected, given her behavior, that Angela physically abuses Michael. The assumption was that she did so off camera. Now, we are left to wonder if production has concealed other physical assaults that Angela may have carried out. Why? To preserve her as “entertainment,” just as editors tried to conceal Lisa Hamme’s use of the N-word during a previous Tell All. This also makes us naturally wonder if something changed between the show and Angela that they are now, this far into the season, exposing Angela’s domestic violence.
Meanwhile, Angela wants to patch things up with Michael’s family
She claims that she cares what they think about her, which is odd considering that she has flashed them through the Tell All camera. She doesn’t want her in-laws to hate her … but that alleged desire doesn’t seem to influence Angela’s actual behavior much. In fact, she continues to blame Michael for her violent outburst. Pretty standard behavior for an abusive spouse.
Michael’s family sees her for what she is
They meet with Michael’s brother, Yekini, who tells Angela pretty bluntly that Michael’s extended family is worried and angry.
Later …
Michael is eager to show Angela how he can swim now. She clearly has her doubts.
Nightmare fuel
We’re not going to kink-shame anyone, but calling your partner “mommy” or “daddy” takes on a different tone when there is a 20+ year age gap between you. (Remember, despite appearances, Angela is only in her 50s) The two subject us all to their affections in and out of the pool.
Michael is pouring on the charm
He hopes that he can so thoroughly impress Angela with his romantic side that she’ll forget all about traveling to Canada to visit Billy.
Michael is uncomfortable with her “crush” on Billy
Meanwhile, Angela says that visiting Billy is very important to her — because he has kidney disease, and not because of their extremely flirtatious TikTok duets and video chats. This is from a woman who physically attacked Michael for simply having an Instagram account.
Angela calls Billy to introduce him and Michael so that they’ll feel better
Billy is a relatively good sport, quickly assuring Michael that there’s nothing between him and Angela.
But Michael has concerns
Just as Angela doesn’t want him having social media at all or having friends who are women, Michael doesn’t want his wife traveling to Canada to stay with a handsome man who has openly flirted with Angela, and upon whom Angela admittedly “had” a crush.
Then, he hears Billy’s nickname for Angela
Billy is likely the only person on the planet who calls Angela “Angel” unironically. Michael doesn’t like that at all. Meanwhile, Angela tells Michael that if he doesn’t like her going to Canada, he should just divorce her. Very healthy.
Michael gets up and walks off
He finds the situation ridiculous and upsetting and wants some space.
PLEASE
Some viewers believe that Michael is doing some kind of long con on Angela, as a ploy to get to the United States. It is difficult to imagine this being worth it for him, especially since he is admittedly leery about some of what an American life will be like — from living with Angela to facing racism. But many viewers would love to see him break free from Angela’s control. No one deserves to suffer abuse.
Ed Brown and Liz Woods
Liz and Big Ed are getting ready for a family get-together with his folks. Liz does not know many of his relatives, and she knows that some of them have Big Opinions(TM) about her and about their engagement. This will be their second engagement party. Ed ruined their first one, so this is a big deal. Liz’s one request is that he please stay by her side and not wander off at the party. Ed promises to do so.
Naturally, Ed immediately breaks that promise
Calling this “Typical Ed” behavior, Liz adds to the camera: âÂÂHe told me he wouldnâÂÂt leave my side. The second we walk in the door, boom! HeâÂÂs gone.â We agree. Now why exactly are you planning to marry him?
Liz makes do
Chatting with Ed’s extended family, they do explain how a lot of hesitation comes from the rift between Ed and his mom. Those two have lived together since many of them were still children. Now, they’re on the outs, and some blame Liz — even though Ed’s mom, they say, doesn’t really hate Liz. She’s just … not accustomed to the idea of this engagement.
Ed chats separately
He says that he told his mom that he loves her, but he’s waiting for her to come around on the engagement before they can have a real relationship again. Some of his relatives think that this is a good thing — because Ed is “out of the nest” now.
Overall, the party went well
âÂÂOverall, it was great,â Liz tells the camera. âÂÂIt didnâÂÂt end in disaster, but we have a lot to work out⦠If we had that kind of support from his mother or his daughter, it would be way easier.âÂÂ
Unfortunately, their engagement is still going strong
This means that they subject viewers to jokes about Ed’s underwear. Please, have mercy on us.
Elizabeth Potthast and Andrei Castravet
In the aftermath of that ugly confrontation with Becky and Jenn, Libby is trying to talk to Andrei about his behavior. It is not going well. She is asking that he not escalate things like that with her family — remember, he was yelling at Jenn and taunting her, threatening to “take” things from her through his success. But he doesn’t see it that way.
Andrei thinks that the sisters were always like this
He theorizes that Libby and her sisters were always fighting like this, and that he’s the first outsider to go “hey, that’s not healthy.” Becky has a husband. Jenn has married before. It’s unclear why Andrei is the “first” outsider here. Then again, we viewers have never seen Libby before her relationship with Andrei. We don’t know who’s right.
They could both use a distraction right now
The two go shopping for baby supplies. Libby, of course, is pregnant with the couple’s second child. They look at strollers and hear advice, and we weirdly watch Libby drool over the sight of her husband pushing a stroller. Okay. But all of this is reminding Andrei of looming possibilities.
What if he can’t stay in the US?
Andrei notes that it has been two months since their green card interview, which was unusual in and of itself. They have heard nothing. No good news, no bad news. Everything is in limbo. If he gets bad news, then he’ll have a very short time before he must leave for Moldova.
There are logistical concerns
It’s not just that this would turn his life — and hers — upside down. Andrei wonders aloud if Libby will end up delivering in Moldova.
That is not what Elizabeth wants
She’s unfamiliar with hospitals in Moldova. Yes, she’s been to the country. She even had a second wedding there. But for something as high-stakes and anxiety-inducing as having a baby, she’d love to go with something familiar and close to her family. Giving birth almost anywhere else on the planet would be much cheaper than facing financial extortion in the US healthcare system, but Libby and Andrei can clearly afford it. Long story short, she doesn’t want to see her husband face deportation.
Jenny Slatten and Sumit Singh
Jenny and Sumit, plus her daughter Christina and her daughter-in-law Jen, take Bollywood dance classes. They have a lot of fun as a group, and it’s a good reminder that these folks do a lot on and off camera that doesn’t make it into the episodes. There’s more to life than drama and worries, you know?
For Sumit, the class is a reminder of his age
He’s a grown man in his thirties. Learning a new dance is a little slower than it used to be. Meanwhile, he jokes about how Jenny is learning to use her hands and arms more while dancing rather than just moving her hips.
But …
Sumit will soon be heading to see his family. He hasn’t seen his parents since he told them that he had married Jenny. Last time, they were a no-show to a family get together. He’s hoping that things go better for him this time.
Christina would love to tag along
She suggests that they could go with him to meet his family. Yes, part of it is a desire to be there to speak up for Jenny — sometimes Sumit does, but sometimes his misplaced loyalty to his toxic relatives prevents him from doing so.
Sumit feels surprised by the offer
He recalls how Christina and Jen did not exactly vibe with his family during the Tell All special. They clashed with his brother, Amit, in particular, as he defended his controlling parents.
It’s sweet, but …
Sumit doesn’t know that it will go over well. It sounds like he knows that he’s sort of spineless where his parents are concerned, and that he might end up being caught in the middle of Jenny’s family and his own.
Jenny has her ideas
She privately speaks to an Indian immigration attorney about the idea of bringing Sumit to the US. She’s not scheming behind his back; she’s just finding out what her options are — and what their obstacles may be — should he change his mind.
“Are you a spinster?”
Jenny does not initially understand some of the attorney’s questions. Most of us don’t think of the term “spinster” or expect it to come up during a conversation like this. Jenny shares that she is married, and was previously married in the US many years ago. She has been with Sumit since 2011, but they’ve only been legally wed for 4 months.
There is a potential obstacle
Any immigration process would include a background check. That’s no problem. Normally. But in India, Sumit’s parents could file a complaint over him marrying without their consent. If so, that could impact his chances to get a clean bill of health (so to speak) when trying to immigrate. Oof.
Jovi Dufren and Yara Zaya
The family arrives in Germany so that they can meet up with Yara’s friend, Karina. Karina is a refugee from the Russian invasion of Ukraine. She is also one of Yara’s oldest and dearest friends.
Reunited at last!
Yara tears up at the sight of her friend. So much has changed. When Yara first left Ukraine for the US, she didn’t expect that they wouldn’t see each other again for two and a half years. Slow immigration processes and the pandemic changed that.
Karina left just in time
Two days after she departed, a Russian rocket struck her apartment building. Now, she is a refugee in Germany, and has a remarkably positive attitude considering the horrors that have unfolded.
Oh, Jovi
The next morning, the family — including Karina, and also including Talmadge — have breakfast. Even the waitress seems shocked at Jovi’s request for a beer with breakfast. Yara expresses her embarrassment that he’s doing this in front of her mom. Jovi says that he’s just enjoying the European beer while he can. But … if the German waitress thinks that you’re drinking beer in a worrisome way, maybe you should reconsider.
Jovi once again pushes back against the idea of Yara staying longer in Europe
Some of his arguments make sense. The war in Ukraine could easily spill over, and we don’t just mean missile strikes in Poland. When a power-mad despot threatens nuclear attacks, it’s not unusual for someone to worry about his family being anywhere in Europe. At the same time, Jovi comes across as controlling — even if he doesn’t mean to be.
Yara resents it
She wants to make up her own mind. But Jovi’s attempts to all but demand that she not extend her visit to Europe are clearly backfiring. Maybe he should try a new approach.
Kimberly Menzies and Usman Umar
We see Kimberly walking with her son, Jamal. She is home in San Diego. Unfortunately, in the weeks since production last filmed her, tragedy has struck.
Kimberly’s mom passed away
Sally became very ill and died a few weeks after Kimberly returned home from Nigeria. That is so, so hard. It’s hard for Kimberly and for Jamal. It also tells us when this was filmed. Sally passed away in the night on January 10, 2022.
Among other things, this has shown Jamal a new side to Usman
Not only did Sally apparently get along well with Usman, but Jamal has seen his mother’s fiance really reach out to her and comfort her as she copes with this loss. No matter how nutty your mom is, you tend to appreciate the people who make her happy and who lend her emotional support.
Meanwhile, Kimberly is treating this as a wakeup call
One of the best ways to cope with grief is to channel a loss or find purpose in it. Kimberly is working out more. She is also quitting smoking. Many viewers did not realize that she was an active smoker — as she does not smoke in hotels or cars like a certain castmate does — but she is kicking the bad habit and hoping that she will be around for a good long while.
Kimberly and Usman have a video call
Usman of course showers her with love and affection. But he also has a serious topic to bring up with her. And he feels unsure of how she will react.
“I feel like maybe I’m going to adopt”
Usman’s brother Mohammed has a young son, Mahadi. He says that he has a connection with his young nephew, and that he is already responsible for his brother’s children should anything happen to Mohammed. But Usman could adopt Mahadi and therefore satisfy his mother’s demand that he have a child. This could potentially allow Usman to avoid having a second wife, which would allow him to be with Kimberly and immigrate to the US.
It’s a lot to take in
Obviously, Kimberly understands the benefits. But it’s a big announcement to make, even tentatively, from a continent away.
Who will raise Mahadi?
Apparently, Usman is hoping that Kimberly will play that role. She is an experienced parent. And it sounds like Usman’s culture would not expect for him to take an active role in nurturing an adopted child — at least, not from the way that he describes it.
I don’t know, man
Kimberly admits that she is hesitant. She will have to think about it. Among other things, she has already raised a child. Jamal is an adult man. Kimberly would be starting over with a new child. That is no small ask.
Later, Kimberly sits down with Jamal for a quick bite
She invites him to come with her on her next visit to Nigeria. âÂÂItâÂÂll be interesting,” he says, agreeing to his mother’s request. “My first time leaving is to meet your Nigerian superstar rapper person!â Everybody loves Jamal, so this could definitely be “interesting,” as he says.
