Several months ago, Teen Mom OG viewers started getting excited about reports that Maci Bookout shot an episode Naked and Afraid.
But until Sunday night, we knew very little about Maci’s experience on the show.
Now, information is beginning to trickle in, and fans are more hyped than ever.
We still don’t where in the world Maci will be battling the elements, but we do know who she’s partnered up with and — most importantly — when her episode will air.

No Half Measures
As we learned on the preview that aired during Sunday night’s Naked and Afraid: XL, Maci won’t be coddled just because of her celebity status. She totally stripped down, just like the show’s previous contestants, and you can expect she’ll be pushed to the point of severe dehydration, exhaustion and disease, like everyone else. Sounds awesome!!
Total Badass
In Maci’s introductory clip, the mother of three describes herself as a badass – perhaps not what you’d expect given her MTV star pedigree. But, as Teen Mom OG fans know, she is no shrinking violet. Badass is a title she earned well before she embarked on her latest wilderness adventure.
First Look
Last week, Maci took to Instagram to give several million of her closest fans their first glimpse of her episode. The show lives up to its title, clearly, and we’re just getting started.
Eeek, Indeed
“Eeek! Everyone has been asking about my episode of Naked and Afraid,” Maci captioned the picture, and for good reason. What she’s going through is clearly one of the craziest ordeals in the world of reality TV.
Sneak Peek Tease
“Watch the sneak peek inside the new episode of Naked and Afraid XL: All Stars this Sunday night at 10 p.m. on @discoverychannel,” Bookout added, and with obligatory anticipation, we have done just that.
It’s Finally Here
Sunday night, the Discovery Channel dropped not one, but two preview clips from Maci’s episode. And so far fans are loving what they see … (we’re not just talking about her naked body, but that is most definitely on display).
Maci on Naked Afraid: First Look!
It’s official: Maci’s episode of Naked and Afraid will air on June 24 at 9 pm. Here’s an exciting sneak peek of her battle against nature.

For Teen Mom OG fans, Maci needs no introduction. But she still created a video so that viewers could get to know her.
What We Know
We already knew that Maci would be partnered with Justin Tuell, a 31-year-old ICU nurse with a background in wilderness survival. But last night’s previews gave us a load of new information as to how their endeavor may actually play out.
Bentley Is Psyched
At one point in her intro video, Maci consults with her eldest son, 9-year-old Bentley. Her only child from her relationship with the oft-troubled Ryan Edwards, Bentley is clearly a firm believer that his mom has the skills to survive in the wilderness. She’s certainly showed us a lot of heart in dealing with Ryan …
Girl On Fire
Forgive the Hunger Games play on words, but “I’m pretty good at fire,” Maci tells the camera at one point, revealing that she’s been practicing her fire-making skills “a lot, a lot.” Maybe all those backyard bonfires will prove useful after all.
Pleading Her Case
Mrs. McKinney makes a case for survivalist credentials at the onset, stating that experience isn’t everything. “Even though I’m not an expert, I’ve went camping multiple times a year my entire life. This challenge is something I’m dying to do and I really, really want it,†she says, emphasizing her will to succeed.
No Time For Quitters
“When I watch this show, one thing that drives me crazy is people quit way too early,†she says. “They don’t even give themselves a chance.” Bookout echoes the sentiments of many viewers when she says this, but of course, it’s a whole different ballgame when it’s you under the microscope. And nude in the jungle.
Making a Pledge
The mother of three goes on to vow that even if things get tough out there, she won’t be tapping out early: “The first sign of distress they tap out, they’re done,” she says. “It’s going to suck for sure, but I’m not going to quit.†We’ll see if nature eventually wears her down, as it has many a contestant before.
A Change of Heart?
The first clip from Maci’s time in the wild, however, tells a very different story. “Watching Naked and Afraid from your couch, it’s easy to point out all the things you think people are doing wrong,†she tells the cameras.
The Real Deal
“You’re here and actually feel the thirst and pain in your body, it’s a completely different story,” she adds. Maci might be stating the obvious, but it’s true … no matter how you mentally prepare for this, there’s no substitute for actually experiencing it.
A Promising Start
But Maci and her partner are encouraged by a bit of early success. Together, they’re able to create fire on their first day in the wilderness … a rare feat on Naked and Afraid, and a crucial one, as that will keep you warm. They’re nude after all.
Primal Victory
“You are woman, you make fire! You are a badass,” shouts her celebratory partner, mock-caveman-style. Of course, we know not every contestant actually makes it through to the end, but at least she’s achieving some level of success.
Badass Credential
“It seems like she is going to be a valuable asset to the team,†says Justin, and really, who can argue with that. We can’t wait to watch Maci kick some wilderness ass!
