It looks like yet another messy situation for Leah Messer!
Just when it finally appeared as though things might be settling down for Leah, her life has once again been thrown into turmoil by her second husband, Jeremy Calvert.
If you're a longtime Teen Mom 2 fan, then you know it's been quite some time since Leah and Jeremy ended their marriage.
But these two have never fully been able to quit one another.
Now, fans are convinced that Messer and Calvert are on the verge of yet another reconciliation.
And based on the evidence at hand, it's not hard to see how they arrived at that conclusion ...
It's hard to remember now, but there was a time when Leah and Jeremy were considered one of the happiest, well-matched couples in the Teen Mom universe.
The Rough Patch
But not only did Calvert and Messer go through one of the most painful breakups in the show's history, the aftermath of their split was harrowing to observe.
An Unfit Mother?
Calvert questioned Leah's ability to care for their daughter, Addie, and accused her of harboring an addiction to prescription painkillers, a claim that she still denies.
Despite the tremendous difficulties they faced, Leah and Jeremy have been far more successful than other Teen Mom couples in terms of setting aside their differences in order to focus on their daughter's needs.
A Second Chance?
At one point Leah and Jeremy were getting along so well that fans got the impression they were planning to give their marriage a second chance.
Back In the Habit?
Recently, Leah appeared on an episode of Kailyn Lowry's podcast and confirmed that she and Jeremy had hooked up. Fans were certain that a reconciliation was in the cards -- until Jeremy dropped a bombshell ...
Jeremy revealed last month that he was involved in a relationship with a woman named Desi Kibler.
Wasting No Time
Within days of when the couple went public, it became clear their relationship was serious. Desi even hinted at marriage plans in a series of social media posts.
Earlier this week, Calvert stunned fans by revealing that he and Kibler had called it quits. And from the sound of things, it was a seriously ugly breakup.
Jeremy broke the news by sharing this cartoon of a man with multiple knives in his back, along with a caption reading, "When you have a good heart, you help too much, you trust too much, you give too much, you love too much and this is what happens in the end."
From the moment they learned of the breakup, many fans were hopeful that Jeremy would reconcile with Leah. And this week's episode of Teen Mom 2 further bolstered their optimism.
Leah Gets the Call
In an emotional scene, Jeremy called Leah, not to engage in one of their classic arguments, but to share some heartfelt observations about the ways in which Leah has grown in the years since their split.
Jeremy thanked Leah for raising their daughter and congratulated her on working her way back from the mental health issues and addictions that nearly cost her custody of all three of her daughters just a few short years ago.
An Overdue Apology
Jeremy also made amends for trash-talking Leah in the past. “I really truthfully, want to, like, deeply apologize for saying that about you,” he said. “I do really want to thank you for like being a good mom to my kids.”
“No matter what, I’m still always going to love you,” Jeremy told Leah, who clearly became choked up with emotion.
The Fan Reaction
Naturally, viewers who have been "shipping" Jeremy and Leah for years lost their minds over the clearest indication yet that the former couple may try and work things out.
Things Have Changed
"I think you and Leah would be great together now. She’s changed so much. You would make an amazing team," wrote one fan on Instagram.
One More Shot
"I think you could have hanged on a little longer when Leah was going through her depression but I get it," commented another. "I would love to see you guys back together." Unfortunately, Calvert was quck to squash these fans' hopes ...
It's REALLY Over
"Everyone wants me and Leah to get back together. I'll always love Leah, we have a child together," Calvert replied. "I don't want to jeopardize what we have together to work out for 6 months or even a year and then everything falls apart. I don't want Addie to feel that tension." Of course, if he thinks fans will give up that easily, he's got another thing coming ....
