90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? has returned with Season 4.
Once again, Larissa Lima is back on our televisions, where her conflicts with Colt Johnson rage on.
In hindsight, their squabbles from that time seem so small, relatively, compared to their marriage’s catastrophic conclusion.
But one fight had a dramatic, permanent impact on their relationship: when Larissa allegedly flushed her ring down the toilet.
We know that she was mad at Colt (who isn’t?). But did she really flush her ring, or was that a claim to hurt Colt or shock viewers?
Larissa is opening up about what really happened and sharing further details about the ring.
Did Larissa really flush her ring?
Reality television can include an unbelievable amount of drama, but some can’t help wondering if Larissa merely flushed an empty toilet to upset Colt, or if the entire storyline was concocted by producers for an extra dose of drama.
This season, their messy marriage is all out in the open
We saw their conflicts on 90 Day Fiance when they were merely engaged. Then, we saw their meltdowns and their scandals on Instagram.
We never needed to know this much about their sex life
It’s clearly not good, though it of course does not justify Colt’s cheating scandal from December.
The entire family has been in turmoil
The dysfunctional relationship between Debbie and Colt was widely apparent to all viewers and to Larissa — but not to the mother and son themselves.
But things took a scary turn
At one point, Larissa asked to be interviewed in the car to explain to producers that she had real fears about her safety.
Larissa had reached out to others
Her friend Carmen took to social media after the clip aired to explain that Larissa had been in contact with her that same day to express her concerns about reprisals from Colt and Debbie.
Carmen and Larissa are besties
Larissa has actually been living with her since January 11.
Larissa issued a warning to Colt
Fans saw her drop the D-word, “divorce,” after Colt ignored her concerns.
She felt deceived
Colt dismissed her desire to be provided for as “childish,” while she pointed out his weird expectations and also cautioned him that if he did any other “bad” things to her, that was it.
The situation was, in a word, “ridiculous.”
Many, including her friend Carmen, wish that Larissa had left Colt last year.
Was Debbie to blame?
It was no secret that Debbie resented Larissa and her intrusion into the codependent life to which she had become accustomed. But maybe she made a convenient scapegoat for Larissa to blame when Colt, and Larissa herself, were also major factors.
One of Colt and Larissa’s conflicts had a dramatic twist
As they both reported on 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? (and as we reported months ago), one fight led to Larissa acting in a fit of fury — she flushed her ring down the toilet.
Now, she’s opening up about that
Her ring was never a diamond ring as people had assumed — it was purchased from Etsy.
But … did she really, really flush it?
YES. It made for an iconic moment on television, even though on a personal level it was a terribly impulsive and foolish thing to do. You can always sell a ring and use that money to treat yourself.
She wants fans to stop crying about it
There it is, immortalized in a photo. Also, she provided a link for them to buy it themselves if they like. We can’t speak to how much Coltee paid at the time, but it looks like it cost about $135.
She can only say so much about those times
Part of her divorce agreement, as revealed by 90 Day Fiance blogger John Yates, is a gag order. She and Colt are not allowed to defame each other. Of course, what we’re still seeing air on television was filmed months before that order, so it’s still open season on each other.
A quick note about the ring
Obviously, the diamond industry is built upon centuries of violence and a scheme to create a false value and sense of rarity. We’re all for couples finding different rings that mean more to them and are more ethically sourced. But … the most important part of buying your partner jewelry is to make certain that it is something that will be meaningful to them.
Larissa was … miserable
She is visibly on edge in a lot of scenes. That OBVIOUSLY does not excuse her behavior on or off camera.
These days, she is much happier
A lot of 90 Day Fiance fans would love to see her life after Coltee. She says that her romance with “Erickee” is filled with affection, positivity, and affirmation — a dramatic difference from her life with Colt.
Say what you will about Debbie …
… but when she says that Colt and Larissa are absolutely wrong for each other, she’s absolutely right. They should not be married. They should not even be neighbors.
On the show, they’re still trying to make it work
We all know that it’s a lost cause, but we have the benefit of six months or so of hindsight. At the time, couples counseling sounded like the best option.
But it’s just too much
Remember, this is their drama from last year. This is BEFORE Larissa’s arrest in November. This is BEFORE she reveals, in December, that Colt is cheating on her with multiple women, exchanging nudes and telling them that his marriage was just a facade for television.
She felt used
Larissa admitted to fans that she felt like he was just using her so that he could make money from 90 Day Fiance and from Cameos — money that she later accused him of extracting from their accounts so that she couldn’t touch it.
But it’s all over
Their divorce was finalized weeks ago and, outside of a courtroom and on television and perhaps on a Tell All special stage or two, they may never have to see each other again. That’s … for the best.
