Well, it's official -- Bristol Palin is quitting Teen Mom OG after just one season on the struggling series.
We suppose it shouldn't come as much of a surprise.
After all, quitting high-profile gigs seems to run in Bristol's family.
Still, it seems the move caught producers off-guard, and the showrunners seem unsure of how to proceed.
TMOG has been struggling in the ratings department for years, so it's clear that they need to replace Bristol with someone will attract viewers.
And they might play it safe by re-hiring someone who they know is sure to deliver the drama.
Take a look:
Bristol never proved to be the ratings magnet that producers had hoped, but still, many were surprised when she left the show after a single season.
“Teen Mom OG wasn’t a fit for me, it took away my peace… and honestly - my peace has a price tag that no one but God can afford,” she wrote on Instagram this week.
“$ doesn’t impress me, I don’t entertain bs, and walking away from this show allows God to rebuild me (and my little fam) in the right direction," Bristol continued.
Noting But Love!
"I have love for all the girls on the show, and wish them the best of luck in all their future endeavors!” she concluded.
The announcement did not come as much of a shock for those who had been paying attention to Bristol's social media activity.
Over and Out
Asked during a recent Instagram Q&A if she was planning to return to Teen Mom OG, Bristol replied that the show is “over for our story.”
Welcome to Reality TV!
Insiders say Bristol "hated" the way she was portrayed during her short time on Teen Mom OG.
Had She Seen the Show Before?
“They did not show anything about how she actually works and provides for her family,” a source tells Radar Online.
Role Model Material
“She wants to be a ‘role model’ for single moms and didn’t feel like the show portrayed her in a role model way and ‘focused on the drama,’” the insider adds.
“Bristol is actually smart when it comes to real estate," the source concludes. "She flipped like 2-3 houses when she was young. I’m sure she is successful.”
Naturally, the speculation about who will replace Bristol began immediately after her announcement. And one name was bandied about more than any other.
Return of the Queen?
“They should bring Farrah back,” a source close to Ms. Abraham tells Radar.
Swallowing Their Pride
“They need her on the show for ratings. They made a big mistake. For the right price, Farrah would come back. But she’s going to say, ‘I told you so!’” the insider continues.
Farrah has kept busy since being fired in 2017 with a role on another MTV reality show, Ex on the Beach.
But that gig doesn't pay nearly as well, and it seems to be a lot more stressful.
Farrah's star power is proven, and TMOG ratings have been on a steady decline since her departure.
Trying Something New?
But if the reality/adult film star is sitting around expecting her phone to ring at any moment, she may have another thing coming.
McKee to Success?
Insiders say several other names are being considered as well, including Teen Mom 3 alum Mackenzie McKee.
Asked if she has any expectation to hear from MTV, McKee told Radar that she “doesn’t know what their plans are.”
Would She Even Accept the Offer?
“We are really shining on YouTube and my business is thriving and I have so many plans in the works,” McKee said of herself and her husband Josh.
Former 16 & Pregnant star Lindsey Nicholson was equally non-committal when asked if she would accept the position.
“All the girls seem very stressed and not happy to work with MTV,” she told Radar. “I don’t know if I’d even want that for my family.”
One MTV star who would be happy to accept the role, however, is Madison Channing Walls.
A Familiar Face
Madison appeared on a season of The Real World, but she's likely best known to Teen Mom fans as a former girlfriend of Javi Marroquin's.
Madison's rep tells Radar she would love to do the show and would be fully candid about her past struggles with heroin addiction.
Why Not Maddie?
“She 100 percent wants to do Teen Mom. I tried pitching her a few months ago. MTV told me, ‘No, not right now.’” Why not put Maddie on?" the agent says. "She’s going to be open talking about her struggles with addiction.”
Pulling For Farrah
Sounds like Madison would make for a good fit, but fans of the series seem to be pulling for the OG OG -- Ms. Farrah herself.
