Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens are moving away of their good girl roles with the release of ‘Spring Breakers,’ in theaters next week.
The plot begins with four college co-eds scheming to score some quick cash for their spring break trip to Florida. It picked up an R-rating for strong sexual content, language, nudity, drug use, and violence throughout.
Justin Bieber’s ex-girlfriend is 20 and feeling liberated by this new direction but she continues to walk a fine line in order to keep her younger Disney fans on the hook.
Next week Selena will also appear on the Disney Channel in a one-hour television special title ‘The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex.’ She executive-produced the episode that will feature the Russo and Mason families visiting Tuscany.
The singer-actress is pleased that her Disney special coincides with the release of the adult-themed flick.
She admits, “I’m actually glad that it’s happened because I get to do something for the young ones and then get to do ‘Spring Breakers’ for the older ones.”
Gomez isn’t concerned about a backlash. In fact, she’s fairly certain “the fans are going to love it.”
The film, opening March 22, also co-stars James Franco, Rachel Korine and Ashley Benson.
