Selena Gomez Sheds Good Girl Disney Image
Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens are moving away of their good girl roles with the release of 'Spring Breakers,' in theaters next week.
The plot begins with four college co-eds scheming to score some quick cash for their spring break trip to Florida. It picked up an R-rating for strong sexual content, language, nudity, drug use, and violence throughout.
Justin Bieber's ex-girlfriend is 20 and feeling liberated by this new direction but she continues to walk a fine line in order to keep her younger Disney fans on the hook.
Next week Selena will also appear on the Disney Channel in a one-hour television special title 'The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex.' She executive-produced the episode that will feature the Russo and Mason families visiting Tuscany.
The singer-actress is pleased that her Disney special coincides with the release of the adult-themed flick.
She admits, "I'm actually glad that it's happened because I get to do something for the young ones and then get to do 'Spring Breakers' for the older ones."
Gomez isn't concerned about a backlash. In fact, she's fairly certain "the fans are going to love it."
The film, opening March 22, also co-stars James Franco, Rachel Korine and Ashley Benson.
