Ryan O’Neal and Alana Stewart hit the red carpet at the world premiere screening of the NBC film Farrah’s Story on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills.

The feature-length documentary chronicles the two-and-a-half year battle with cancer that has been bravely and fiercely waged by actress Farrah Fawcett. Alana Stewart, Fawcett’s closest friend, produced the film and has been at her friend’s side during the journey.

The documentary shows Farrah’s humor and tenacity as she loses her hair, faces the ravaging effects of treatment and suffers setbacks along the way. The film doesn’t hold back and shows the gritty and often heartbreaking journey that has been this family’s life for the past 30 months.

O’Neal said that his beloved longtime companion is in a “very rocky place”. He went on to say, “We put on a brave front, always, when we’re with her. She doesn’t know how scared we are.”

Asked if Fawcett, who is heavily medicated now, would view the film when it airs on Friday night from 9:00-11:00 p.m. EST, he said, “We’re going to take some of these medications down so she’s lucid and sharp to watch herself. I think she’ll take great pride in this.”

We’ve included more photos and a clip from the documentary, O’Neal being comforted by friends at the premiere, and his recent comments about Farrah’s condition below.
