Currently in court ordered rehab for drug related crimes, Redmond O’Neal was given his first 24 hour pass to leave Impact treatment facility and wound up getting arrested and ordered back to jail.
Redmond, the son of actor Ryan O’Neal and the late actress Farrah Fawcett, has now truly hit an all time low. Presumably clean for six months, he apparently threw it all away on December 29th. When O’Neal returned to rehab after his leave, he admitted to using and tested positive for unspecified drugs.
Redmond was due back in court yesterday for a standard check of his rehab status. Instead he is now facing a probation violation and could get up to six years behind bars for his latest relapse.
Judge Michael Tynan said, “It seems to me that you haven’t got a clue as to what recovery means. It’s a lifetime commitment. It’s grinding, hard, painful work.”
Sadly, six years might be what it takes to get through to Redmond – obviously six months of rehab isn’t working. Redmond’s next court date is February 10th.
