Earlier this year Cosmopolitan magazine named John Mayer their Fun Fearless Male 2008 and called him cool, sexy, smart and talented. His 2001 breakout album, Room for Squares, was followed closely by Any Given Thursday and Heavier Things. His romantically and politically charged songs have earned five Grammy’s for the amazing musician and lyricist.
The outspoken, and seemingly fearless star, sat for an interview with Cosmo. We find his responses interesting, especially in light of his new romance with Jennifer Aniston so we’ve pulled out a few to share.
Cosmo asked Mayer how he knows when he’s into a girl. His response:
If I wake up in the morning and I don’t want to get you a coffee or if I don’t see you for a week and I don’t want to go figure out something to FedEx you, then we’ve got a problem. You can fake the words I miss you, but you can’t fake getting someone a book.”
When asked the secret of having a good relationship, the singer said:
I don’t mess around or play games. I don’t believe in them. I just want honesty. I’d rather wake up one morning and say, “You know what? I had a really terrible dream that you were f**king somebody else. Can you just give me extra love today?” instead of getting in a fight about some stupid sh*t and then at the end of the day being like, “Okay, can I tell you why I’ve been like this?” I’d rather say “Heads up” than “I’m sorry” later. Your relationship is supposed to be the safe place.”
