Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton fell on Wednesday night and fractured her right elbow, according to her chief of staff Cheryl Mills.
The former New York Senator was headed to the White House from the State Department when the accident occurred. Clinton was treated at George Washington University Hospital, just a few blocks away from where she was injured. She will undergo surgery to repair the fracture in a few days.
Clinton was scheduled to appear on Thursday with actress Angelina Jolie at World Refugee Day in Washington D.C. She was forced to cancel her appearance and is said to be resting at home.
Cheryl Mills released the following short statement on the matter: “Secretary Clinton appreciates the professionalism and kindness she received from the medical team who treated her this evening and looks forward to resuming her full schedule soon.
