If you are old enough to read print ads, you’ve seen the Got Milk? campaign print ads. It is one of the most successful strategies used by the dairy industry to tout their products. For the past twelve years we have seen a milk mustache on a multitude of celebrities and sports figures. The photo above shows a new approach, which is to advertise on U.S. bus shelters.

The familiar milk mustache is not universally used by other countries in their advertising. Germany has opted to show a white tongue rather than the familiar milk mustache. Other countries, including India, tell the milk story as a photo essay with catchy slogan. We’ve pulled together photos from seven countries. We think you’ll appreciate the differing slants on the message about milk.

According to the Dairy Council, consumers who have come in contact with the ads are often canvassed and asked to recall what they remember. Their findings indicate that consumers had a 90% recall rate. No wonder the ad campaign continues to flourish.

Check out ads from Germany, Canada, Switzerland, India, Australia and Brazil below. We’ve also included a few familiar icons.
