The Manhattan district attorney’s office is poised to charge four daredevils in an insane, predawn skydive from 1 World Trade Center that took place six months ago. James Brady, Kyle Hartwell, Marko Markovich, and Andrew Rossig have been charged with burglary, reckless endangerment and jumping from a structure, according to a statement issued by NYPD Commissioner William Bratton. Three of the men took part in the jump while one man stood on look-out below.
“These men violated the law and placed themselves, as well as others, in danger,” Bratton said. “These arrests should send a message to anyone thinking about misusing a landmark this way.” Two of the men, dressed in all black and wearing helmets, were caught on security cameras after landing between the Goldman Sachs building and the Conrad Hotel. Authorities were unsure then whether they jumped off a building or from a plane. The men were eventually caught after police used search warrants to find footage of the event on a GoPro camera.
The charges come less than a week after a 16-year-old boy from New Jersey was arrested on trespassing charges at the skyscraper. Justin Casquejo is accused of sneaking past security and climbing to the top of the building.
