Actress Farrah Fawcett has had last rites administered by a priest as her condition continues to deteriorate. The 62-year-old devout Catholic has been hospitalized in Los Angeles for the past two weeks for ongoing treatment of anal cancer.
Fawcett’s publicist Arnold Robinson kept his report upbeat and would only say that the actress was being treated for her condition. Reports surfaced earlier in the week that her release was imminent but she reportedly took a turn for the worse and remains in intensive care, surrounded by family members, including her long-time partner Ryan O’Neal.
Farrah’s son Redmond O’Neal has been allowed out of jail on two occasions to visit his mother. Ryan O’Neal asked a judge to allow their son to see his mother again, which would seem to indicate that her condition has worsened.
O’Neal will appear on 20/20 with Barbara Walters on Friday night. The taped interview occurred a few days ago. In a candid conversation, O’Neal indicated that he plans to marry Farrah when she is able to actively participate in the exchanging of vows.
