David Letterman announced during the taping of his CBS Late Show on Monday that he got married last week. His bride is Regina Lasko, mother of their five year old son Harry Joseph.
Right after his monologue, he congratulated actor Bruce Willis on his weekend marriage to Emma Heming. Then he shared his own wedding news with the studio audience.
The couple, who have been in a relationship since 1986, exchanged their vows at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday March 19th at the Teton County Courthouse in Choteau, Montana. The town of less than 2,000 is located twenty miles east of the Rocky Mountains, where Letterman owns a ranch, purchased in 1999.
The trip into town was not without incident. Their truck became mired in the mud and the TV host had to walk two miles back to the house in a 50 mph wind to retrieve another vehicle. Dave told his audience that the whole way back to the house, he kept telling himself, “See smart ass, see you try to get married and this is what happens. You have nobody to blame but yourself.”
Letterman swore off marriage after divorcing his first wife, Michelle Cook, in 1977.
