DAVID CARRADINE 1936-2009
David Carradine was laid to rest in Los Angeles on Saturday, ten days after he was found hanged in the closet of a Bangkok hotel room. Suicide was ruled out and authorities now believe it is a case of auto-erotic asphyxiation.
A crowd of 400 mourners gathered to pay their final respects in the Hall of Liberty at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills, a 400 acre cemetery adjacent to Griffith Park.
Friends attending the service included Jane Seymour, Tom Selleck, Daryl Hannah, Lucy Liu, Edward James Olmos, Rob Schneider, Ali Larter and Frances Fisher. Also in attendance was Carradine’s best friend Michael Madsen, who hosted Carradine and Annie Bierman‘s 2004 wedding at his home.
The Order of Worship handout featured a smiling photo of the deceased on the front cover (see photo below) and a sketch of him on the back with lyrics from Midnight Rider by The Alman Brothers Band.
Song selections during the funeral service included Let It Be by the Beatles and Beethoven’s Requiem for a Fallen Hero. The family was not visible to the media and the burial was private.
Carradine made over 100 films but is best known for his role as Kwai Chang Caine in the 1970’s television series Kung Fu.
