Fizzy milk? You betcha! (Can I just say blech right here?)
Coca-Cola is test-marketing Vio, a drink made from skim milk, sparkling water, fruit and cane sugar.
Selling for about $2.50 for an 8 oz. bottle, the product is currently only available in natural food stores and delis in New York.
The drink, which contains 26 grams of sugar and 1.5 grams of fat per bottle, comes in four flavors: peach mango, berry, citrus and tropical colada.
A flavor tester who tasted the citrus version, said, “It’s big on milk flavor and, as a result, has a somewhat creamy body. It didn’t seem sweet until you consumed almost a whole bottle.”
Vio is part of Project Life — a Coke initiative to develop milk-based products, with plans to go global if it is a success in the United States.
If anyone has tried Vio, we’d love to hear what you think about it. Again, I say blech.
