With over 47 million votes cast this week, the FOX reality show American Idol bid another contestant farewell tonight, leaving four talented people left standing.

At the top of the show, Simon Cowell said that after watching all of the performances again, it is clear that all five did very well on Tuesday night – leaving the competition ‘wide open’. The genre was Rat Pack songs made famous by crooners Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.

Guest performers were Natalie Cole, Jamie Foxx and Idol winner of season five Taylor Hicks.

Poised for potential elimination were Matt Giraud, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert, after Ryan Seacrest announced that Allison Iraheta and Danny Gokey received the most votes this week.

It turned out that the bottom two for the week were Matt and Adam – which will undoubtedly shock many who have seen Lambert as the favorite. When the dust settled, it was Matt Giraud who was eliminated. This was his second go round at last place. A few weeks ago, the judges exercised their one time ‘save’ to keep him in the competition.

Check out all of the performances here from Tuesday night.
