The American Idol results are in. A record sixty-four million votes were tabulated, the most ever outside of a finale. The final four performed School’s Out with Rock mentor Slash. Sadly, we learned that it was 17-year old Allison Iraheta who failed the Idol ‘School of Rock’ and reached the end of the line.
The first of the four remaining contestants to be announced as safe, Kris Allen, was the one many thought might be going home. The look of surprise on his face was telling – even he seemed amazed to be remaining. Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey joined him in the safe seats, leaving the lone teen female singing her swan song of Cry Baby, while tears streamed down her face.
The all male Top Three will journey back to their roots this week for their very own hometown heroes parade. The two night Season 8 finale will be May 20 and 21 from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
Last night Paula Abdul took the stage and performed her new release I’m Just Here For The Music. Gwen Stefani and her group No Doubt sang Just A Girl and former Idol contestant Chris Daughtry performed the debut of the new Daughtry single No Surprise. Check them all out on video below.
