Lifetime channel has pulled the plug on the Jennifer Love Hewitt television drama ‘The Client List’ after two seasons.
The pregnant actress was reportedly involved in a great deal of backstage drama with her co-star and real-life fiancee Brian Hallisay before the network opted to cancel the show.
As executive producer, JLH wanted to write her pregnancy into the plot line and others weren’t for it. She also wanted Hallisay’s character to be the baby’s father. Lifetime and Sony/ITV dragged their feet … and ultimately decided not to extend a renewal offer.
With rumors swirling, a rep for Hewitt claimed while things were still up in the air for a third season, “There are many story lines that we are exploring so any suggestion that we are not doing our best to develop a great season is simply not accurate.”
The actress announced her pregnancy in June, just a few weeks before the season two finale. She said, “This is a wonderful time and we are looking forward to starting our family together.”
Season one finale brought in 2.7 million viewer and Season two drew a disappointing 2 million.
‘The Client List’ Twitter fan feed acknowledged the demise of the series. “Goodbye The Client List. It has been officially cancelled. I’m depressed guys lemme cry.”
